Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Our Modified format HP - DP. Does it work at all?

We (Germany) will also have HP-MT after the 10.10!!!

But your right, having less consistency making the game having a bigger luck factor, which is really bad =(

I've been testing this format a lot lately, and I must say I'm very worried about our DP2-less fall.

For every new Modified format that comes around, POPs R&D developement do a lot of testing, to make sure the format works, and has everything it needs to build healthy decks. I'm sure they did this for HP On too, but they must have tested it with DP2. Because without DP2, this format is WEIRD.

Having no Holon Farmer really hurts every Stage 2 deck. In the USA, you can use the superior Night Maintenance instead, but we can't. I am having tremendous problems making any deck containing any LvX work. With 3 Stage 2 and 1 LvX, your chances of winning are very tiny if just ONE of your Stage 2s are prized.

If one of them are prized, your opponent only needs to KO two of your Stage 2s, and you're left with nothing. Farmer or Night Maintenance could've saved you and help you create some resistance for your opponent while he/she tries to draw his/her remaining 4 prize cards. But without these cards, you've basically lost long before all prizes have been drawn.

How do you survive this weird format? Lots of side-attackers? Only fast Stage 1 decks? Europe and other DP2-less countries will see a fall with decks built very differently than those in the the US, I think (not just the difference that they don't include DP2 cards).
Ya same here my decks a speed stage 1 as we dont even have D+P yet lol
I run a card that can get pokemon back...
I agree with you the HP-DP1 format is difficult.
While you can get basic nrg's back out of the discard in 3 ways (stone/reycle/restore) there is no way to get a pokemon back.
(Unless I missed an option)

I think it's going to be you play 4 or you have a big problem.
Losing Mr. briney also hurts, SSU is in no way a replacement.

I think we will see a lot of 4-4 Lucario 4-3-4 Machamp decks just because of this, or maybe Noctowl will fly around.

Ever Heard of Electrike [CG] 1 :colorless Get back 1 card from your discard Pile.
Why does nobody run this tec card? My Luxray deck runs it and Manetric as tecs[that is when I get D+P here lol].

Yes I heard of it but
1. It's an attack which is not good if you can have the same effect with a trainercard.
2. Hurray 1 pokemon back in your hand, but next turn your pokemon KO, prize for me.

scrambles you asked for a card that gets a card back?
Early game play mentor discard and get the card back.
Late Game get a stage 2 or basic you need.
So wha if it costs you a prize Farmer was -2 cards to get 6 back in your deck+ t'was a suporter.
The new card is -1 card from hand 3 back into your deck.
Ya I know advantage does not count in this game lol it really dosen't if you got a big hand.
Still we should really be aloud use the set before HP till we get MT.Just to make the game slightly better.
It was a thought.Ill still tec 1 for now.

Drifblim is also a pokemon, what we were talking about was mainly not having a trainercard to get Pokemon back in the HP-DP1 format.

I understand that and see where you guys are coming from ... but if your deck absolutely *has* to get stuff back to work there are options ... even if they aren't the best.

Tego is 100% right.

HP-DP1 is not a format, no skill and no options to have different and interesting decks!

I have some questions. Why can't Europe get dp2? Why can't we just import it from US? or is the point that Europe should have a different modified than US?

I don't see any problem when playing K8 rating BRs with only 5 sets + POPs because they really doesn't affect in anything. Anyways I think, we in Finland do have some BRs after the MT prerelease and in my city in both BRs MT is legal.

But if retrieving pokemons is a problem just play Speed Empoleon or MARIO(even though it doesn't have synergy). But really, I agree that HP-DP1 format is just too small.

Europe got DP1 on August 22. Right now, the marketing campaigns for DP1 are running and the distributors are finally starting to send out their product to the shops all over Europe. It's completley impossible to suddenly release DP2 right now, both marketing-wise and logistically. The real question is: Why did Nintendo take so long to release the DS games in Europe, so that DP1 for the TCG got delayed in Europe and DP2 thus got delayed too?

Of course I'm not 100% sure about this, but doesn't Nintendo do different "versions" of videogames for Europe, U.S. and Japan? I think they wouldn't have left Europe behind without a reason. But I think, it's just that they modify(dont know how) that game somehow before they release it in Europe and that's why the schedule is different in U.S and Europe.

The games have to learn to "speak":

British English
German
French
ITalian
Spanish

Before the european release
vs. Only American English for the US release(YEs, the English and American versions are slightly different)
and only Japanese for Japan.

Will just have to sweat this through, hoping to be à jour by Worlds 2008, and having the same modified format untli next generation of games(Hopefully 5-6 years from now)

I'm aware of this, I'm just criticizing Nintendo for being too slow in the localization progress of the Pokémon DS games. Just look at the near-simultaneous worldwide release of new Zelda home console games (Twilight Princess appeared in the whole world in just 3 weeks, if I remember correctly), and you can see that it's actually doable. I'm sure it's a terribly hard job, and

that Nintendo want only the finest quality in the translating work of their Pokémon video games, but I'm still left feeling that Nintendo should have worked harder on the release under a brand of such importance as Pokémon. I hope the next Pokémon generation will be released all over the world at the same time, both video game and TCG products.

Also: the European games seem to be translated directly from Japanese into the European languages, just like the US games' English text. A 3-month gap thus seems unnecessarily long to me.

The DP1 cards could have easily be released at the same time the game was released : july 22.
That would result in a combined advertising campaign.
I didn't see much advertising of the DP1 cards, but I did see a lot of the game.

Anyway I will give up hope we will catch up before the bigger tournaments are starting. We will be lucky if we can at least play Nationals in the same Format as Worlds.

We can obtain the cards, many of us have already, but they aren't modified-legal until they've been released locally.
