Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Palkia Lock

I think the Bat/Call/Zong/Palkia combo should be mentioned, as it may not be obvious to new players at first glance. All too often I get asked why you would want to run a lot of bat in this deck. They're often suprised when I tell them that it's not only for the extra damage from the power, but to make it more consistent.

Great article :) always a fan of quality on the front page. I actually like the list too, aside from personal/meta choices (like Azelf MT) its pretty much what I'd play myself... and I'm pretty sure most people could relate to the sample list too (Doesn't have to card-for-card what you'd run at a tournament, rather something to demonstrate the deck's options).

5/5

I won a BR with this deck back in September, it is deffinatly good. If your meta doesn't see a lot of Gyarados or Flychamp this deck is deffinatly a good play.

I love the list, Mine is actually like 4 cards off to my techs/preferences lol. The article was also really good and you explained it well.

I would add the Crobat/Call/Bronzong combo just like darth pika said. Its very common that this will be an option t1/t2.

Just a thought, but depending on the metta IMO a 1-1 or 2-2 Chomp C line would be better than the luxray line.

i feel like palkia is just SO weak lately.

it just loses to these dialga varients, luxray still hurts it, and machamp is a beast, as is any kind of flychamp or gechamp. the problems it had before are just as relevant.

i cant see myself using this at a CC.

I agree. The meta just isn't good for it right now. That being said, I see several cards in the next set that could give it a nice boost.

Yeah, Dialga's return hurt this deck alot. I haven't played it in a CC's yet; I've played LuxChomp twice and DialgaChomp twice, but not Palkia. Having Champ and Dialga as virtual autolosses wasn't a problem before, but now it definitely is.

Like DarthPika said, however, HGSS looks to give some serious help. Palkia/Garchomp (which also handles Luxray really well due to the non-X's 80HP) becomes a powerful sniping/locking deck with DCE, and Pixies can be searched en mass with Pokemon Collector. And Ninetails might help Fire decks enough to scare Dialga out of the picture (maybe, Dialga's good enough to handle a lot of Fire and Quagsire 2HKO'ing even Charizard makes it possible to easily win). I believe that Palkia will most definitely be better then, though. The format is just shifted against it for now.
