Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pet Peeve

Is it just me or...

Don't you hate it when you ask a seller what condition a card is in, and they reply something like "it's been in a sleeve and top loader totally protected since I got it"
The card might have been through Hurricane Katrina before he got it but its been protected since lol. Hate that.

I'm with you on this Gary! I asked a seller to give me a detailed description of a card I intended to grade. They replied with the same description as the listing and then went one step farther and told me that grading the card wouldn't do much for the value. I didn't ask for their opinion and didn't get any more information than was already available. Needless to say they lost a sale.
Lazy sellers man....

Lol...totally agree with that:)

Or when sellers describe the card by saying "it's in pretty good condition. Not too much wrong with it." Like... what does that mean...

Or when they say "absolutely no damage. immacuate." and the card arrives looking like it sat in a child's pocket for 3 years... >>; Sooo frustrating!

"the card is in mint condition"

When I get it in the mail... Front is Mint... Back is Horrible.

I just got a card in the mail from

thetoyvault | 21826 | 100.0%

that he advertised as "near mint" and it had a fold line and two large creases. WTH(what the heck)??? You can't even trust 20k rated sellers anymore...

Growing up there were only three sorts of cards I recognized. Mint being no flaws at all and Not mint meaning there was whitening or scratches. The third type was just horrible garbage if it was severely damaged or had a crease. But as time went by I got to know of near-mint, excellent, good, played, etc. etc. All I could do is shake my head. There's no way I'm willing to learn what these new definitions mean seeing as many have a different interpretation. So now what I do is pretty say either my card is mint or it is in bad shape even if that "bad shape" is just one corner having whitening. But yeah stuff like "excellent" makes no sense to me. You'd think excellent would mean excellent.

How about the old, "great condition for its age" lol

Not gonna lie, I have been guilty of this line before  I notice most people who say things like the lines posted above are new sellers, or sellers who don't deal strictly in Pokemon. I have made it a habit not to buy cards unless I have front and back photos of said card.

I also hardly ever purchase items that use 'stock' photos, as I never know what I am going to get.

Or better yet: "Been in a binder for years."

Because binders alone are an impenetrable fortress not susceptible to the elements and time.

One other thing that is super annoying is when people list things for ridiculously high buy it now prices. And just keep relisting them.... forever...
