Peter Pan Peanut butter recall

I started a thread about the 2111 series number jars of Peter Pan Peanut butter recall . anyone know what happened to it. Ok it was silly so maybe thats why. But over 300 people in 39 states have gotten sick from it. The Peanut butter not the thread.

I have a jar at my house right now, half gone.
Nobody sick here, but it was supposed to be infected with salmanilla.

I work for a pediatrician, and since the recall, we have gotten about 10 possible salmonella findings out of over 100 phone calls.

What really stinks, is all the poop in bags that we are getting at the window.

yes this started in Kansas City Missouri and the shelves at my area walmart had a lot of Peter pan and Great Value Peanut Butter. Now our shelves are completly cleared out, which is a huge shelf and everyone was buying peanut Butter by the bundles of the other stuff so no peanut butter for atleast a week said Walmart in Sedalia.
Also, I had 5 cans of it at my house and we had to toss it away,so pitty,
and by the way only a handful of people have gotten sick from the Peantu Butter. The reason why those others got sick was just a coincidense, they have tested the Peanut Butter again and it is clear to eat.

It makes me wonder how much of this you can tie directly back to people doing things like cutting costs, going for maximum profit with minimum standards, etc.

It's like that a lot of the time with food recalls, after all. Someone somewhere lets something slip because it's cheaper to do so, and then someone gets sick. I think there was a spinach recall or something around here a while ago that was caused by exactly that.

My mom got sick from it.We had 3 other jars and all had to be tossed. If you save the tops they'll give you coupons for free jars.

You know, it's funny...my dad was watching the News when this happened, and he had just bought some Peter Pan. And sure enough, it had 2111##### on it. Thankfully, we hadn't opened it though.

I went to Wal Mart the other day and at the Customer Service, there were like 50+ jars of PB, and I was shocked until I remembered the recall.

It's a darn good thing we use Skippy at my place.

Anyhoo, if any of you folks do get sick, be sure to get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids (and I do mean lots of fluids). Helped me out on more than one occasion during my childhood.
