Although the title is a play on words with our card game, I mean it for a bigger point.

I've seen a LOT of complaining on here recently, over many different issues, with the latest few being a very......out there (to put it nicely)... conspiracy theory about tcpi, and a very bitter rant about cps and the quality of players attending worlds. Neither threads should be given any credence, and I wish rather than responding to these threads we would just ignore them and let them pass on to the soon forgotten sections of pokegym.

However, I know my wish probably won't come true, but I do want to say that we as players need to be careful what we complain about and discern between what deserves our communal vocal attention and what does not.

We've spoken out when needed and we've been heard, like last years rotation before nats, the implementation of championship points, and getting video coverage at worlds. But if we as a community continue to B*#!# about every little thing Play! Pokemon does, I'm afraid our voices may get ignored when important issues need addressing.

So please, players, choose your battles wisely, and think before you complain about every little thing. Thank you.

While I do agree with the sentiment... is this particular battle worth picking? The conspiracy thread has literally nobody agreeing with the conspiracy theory, and the seniors CP thread doesn't do much better. There will always be someone with an overblown complaint or odd theory that wants to post about it, but that doesn't invalidate the collective cries of the players when an actual bad decision is made.

Doesn't matter what happens, people will complain. I guarantee you if Worlds was placed in New York, the same east coast players WILL STILL COMPLAIN about it. It's just the nature of life.

If they keep CPs or disallow CPs in BRs, SOMEONE will complain. Just common human nature. They do listen to the major changes and open to feedback, so that will never change.

Guy, I love you for at least a billion reasons, and this is one of them.

Very well said, dude. Two thumbs up.

Just because someone else sees a need to complain does not mean you need to indulge them with response.

If you don't post in the thread, the thread does not go anywhere. It is ignored. If it's a valid issue, people will be posting in it, and real discussion can take place.

I think that's more the idea the OP is talking about. Of course we'd prefer not to have these things discussed at all if they're really not worthwhile discussions, but some people have sour-er grapes than others over things like CP, and we give them the attention that they want but don't deserve by posting in their threads - even if it's to tell them off.

As TRUK said, there will always be someone who complains about everything. It is our job as a community to help support good criticisms and advice while pushing aside the bad criticisms. TPCi is not deaf to advice, but when there is a ton of negativity, it is hard for TPCi to find the small pieces of good advice that would genuinely change our game for the better.

Thanks for the post, Guy. :D

Since I'm as old as the walls around here, here's my two cents:

Worlds CPs heading into a new season really undermines the idea of a new season. It doesn't send the right message of a level playing field. I haven't really gotten any GOOD words about this idea since it was first conceived, and I'm really hoping this is the only year it is used.

Quality of Players: The only thing I saw that I still question is the marked Smeargles issue in seniors. I've gotten different stories from this but the one common thing that I got was _the head judge was not called_. More players than not are pretty convinced Chase's cards were marked deliberately. Having met the guy before, I raised an eyebrow at that - he strikes me as a good kid - but honestly, this was not sufficiently looked into one way or the other.

Past that, you got the usual mix from great people to utter dirtbags you get at any tournament. Any player in good standing can enter the LCQ, after all, and qualify for Worlds. There also aren't any championship points for being a nice, polite, or even honest person. I've seen all kinds among top players, though I have to say the Finnish and the Maltese are amazing people - I haven't met a nasty Pokemon player from either country, ever.

Crying Wolf: Yes, I agree, that if we whine about every little thing, the whining will get ignored. I would like to see the two serious issues above addressed by Play! in the future. I find a lot of people are willing to let EVERYTHING be water under the bridge, even the things that really should be spoken out about. That only leads to things getting worse.

My advice to anyone complain about the big problems not the small ones.
Of course this varies person to person. But it if has anything to deal with the actual structure of the program they need to open their eyes to other issues. I may not be happy because the Tins are coming out after BRs or LCQ and Worlds are far away, but it's not like I fight that.

"there will be always someone to complain about something"
this is true, if you ever work for anywhere, you will find this to be true.
