It's narrow. I will agree with you. Many of the players at my league won't be affected by it at all. But even though it's narrow, does my points not pose any value?
There are over 6500+ people that participate in Premier events according to the database on go-pokemon.com. To them, these cards might not have any value at all. I know 6500 people are small when compared to the population of players that just collect cards or just play unlimited themes, but that is still a population that I feel should be considered when marketing a product.
I ended up 'giving' my packs to 2 kids in my neighborhood that only had a few Pokemon cards, days before you posted SteveP. They were tickled pink if I may use that expression. I'm not trying to make it look like the PK packs turned out alright. They were still useless to me and many other people. I know if I had gone to Pokemon league, most members would have turned them down since they try to play modified too (even if they didn't go to events).
The value is still there, I know. The lv.X is still worth it, even with only 2 decent packs, but my main complaint is that the tins have been BETTER previously, ALWAYS having better choices of packs that were closer to the set where the Lv.X came from. I supported that with the information I gathered and posted earlier in the thread.
Why change now? Why turn a Grade-A product into a Grade-C product? What is next? 2 packs of EX series and a Lv.X for $20? How far do we let this go before we start putting our foot down and making it known that it isn't right?
