Plasma Badge Brainstorm

With the Team Plasma Badge out, many Pokemon have a chance to utilize the goodies that Team Plasma has to offer, including but not limited to:

1) Deoxys EX's Power Connect ability
2) Colress Machine
3) The Plasma Stadium immunities- Frozen City and Plasma Frigate (Although Frigate only applies to Plasma Energy, Colress Machine facilitates this to make the stadium more worthwhile)

-and to a certain extent some lesser abilities like the Eevelutions from PLF granting various powers such as increased HP and reduced retreat cost.

I wonder what kind of situations Plasma Badge might create where a slightly under-performing card, such as a card with a good T1 attack that takes two energy with one colorless, might be boosted to be somewhat useful. Much like Hypnotoxic Laser pushed many 2hkos into One-hit land, I wonder how Plasma Badge and Deoxys will be utilized to max out damage.

I also wonder how this might affect other decks. Could Darkrai utilize the Badge to make a T1 Night Spear somewhat easier (although that nullifies Dark Claw) and allow Absol to use Colress Machine without having trainer and energy cards that only apply to Absol?

I just want to see what kinds of ideas people can come up with!

The big two I see benefiting from this are Bouffalant and Tornadus EX. But anything with a :colorless::colorless::colorless: energy cost can enjoy a first turn attack. One I thought of was Skarmory from boundaries Crossed. A first turn 70 that gets through effects is nothing to scoff at, especially since the card is an uncommon.

There's also Virizion NV that does 40 for :grass::colorless: and will 80 the following turn.

Terrakion EX does 50 for :fighting::colorless: and goes through resistance.

Benchtini from NV does 100 for :fire::colorless: but you need a full bench.

I'm sure there are more.

Staraptor's horrendous attack costs can be redeemed with Plasma energy acceleration. Deoxys EX boosts allow it to KO weaker basics while it shuffles bulkier threats back into the deck.

Terrakion EX was part of a meta counter deck I tried making but it didn't quite work. It of course had Plasma Badge in it.

Over at Six Prizes there is a thread discussing this as well. The discussion is entertaining in part because of the quest for... a good name!

I favor "Plasma Proxy", as Team Plasma Badge allows any Pokémon to represent Team Plasma (a nod to both the TCG and legal usage of "proxy") but... that is probably a bit beside the point.

One candidate being toyed with for the idea is Cobalion EX; its Stats are solid and it can hit for 30 plus discard a Special Energy. With a Bench full of Deoxys EX and the Hypnobank combo, this can be enough to keep pace with most decks while at least inconveniencing (sometimes crippling) the more Special Energy reliant Plasma decks. Deoxys EX itself can attack (at least in some builds), allowing it to function as a decent counter to the often Energy heavy attackers in decks that still rely on basic Energy cards.

I'd love to see someone use it with Aerodactyl DEX. Imagine a bench of 4 Deoxys EX, an Aerodactyl with Plasma Badge, and active Snorlax fully powered for Teampact... 230 DAMAGE!!!!

Ok, it's a complete pipe dream, but I love it.

Anything that can give an excuse to run Twist Mountain just makes me giddy, ha ha.

But honestly, I think Plasma Proxy is a cool name. It's a bit better sounding than "honorary team plasma pokemon".

Well i think plasma badge is real good with terrikion ex.....you could do a first turn 50. But for keldeo decks you pretty much must have plasma badge in it now because of frozen city.

Deluge decks can also consider running additional Stadiums or their own Team Plasma Pokémon to deal with Frozen City. Plasma Badge is certainly an option though, though if you use it you can't use Float Stone (may not be an issue).

This was the question I was considering (stadiums vs badge). I'm going to give it a go with stadiums I think.
