Late one night, in Central Indiana, long after the Pokémon League players had left the card shop, a Pokémon Professor and a shop owner were having a friendly conversation about gaming in general.
Suddenly, there was a crash heard outside the window, and the two looked over just in time to see a van skid into the driveway of the gas station next door... on its side!
The Professor did not hesitate long and ran to the aid of the driver of the car, an older woman, probably in her early fifties, but still spry enough to be relatively fine. The driver's side of the vehicle was on the ground, so she was worried about being able to get out. Some other people suggested tipping the vehicle back on its wheels, but the Professor knew this would be dangerous. Instead, the Professor, noticing the vehicle was still running, calmly asked the driver to roll down the passenger side window, so he and the other passersby could help her to safety.
The driver righted herself in the vehicle, and frantically grabbed for the passenger side window controls. She rolled the window down and began to climb out to safety, fearing a fire or explosion from her tipped over vehicle. It was only then that the Professor could see the extent of her injuries: from landing on the driver's side, her entire left forearm was heavily scraped and bleeding. He and another civilian grabbed the woman under her arms and began hoisting her to safety. The driver held tight to the Professor's arm to avoid falling back into what could have been her coffin.
After a few seconds, she was free.
In this time, the shop owner had called 911, and emergency vehicles began to arrive.
Having done all they could, the Professor and the shop owner returned to the shop to get out of the cold and darkness. Both were glad that everyone involved in the accident was going to be okay.
That was when the Professor looked at his lab coat.
In his rush to help, he had forgotten that he had the lab coat on. Now the entire right arm of the coat was stained with the blood from the scrapes on the arm of the woman he had helped to save.
That night was tonight, and that Professor was me.
...
[EDIT/UPDATE]My Lab coat is fine now. Thanks, SD PokéMom, for your kind of scary knowledge of how to get blood out of clothes... yeah...
