Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokémon TCG online in April!

Hmmmm... a free way for new players to learn the game? I don't see the downside. Hopefully it will be a good tool for new players to grasp mechanics and gameplay.

Hmmm... I wonder if eventually this will link with a Japanese program? It's a real shame that our set releases aren't synchronised - the Leafeon vs. Metagross system was apparently pretty cool

Sounds like the newbiest thing I ever heard of. Who cares if about playing online against a computer when you can only use preconstructed decks?

Sadly the Japanese Leafeon VS Metagross deck's server was shut down last year, so they can't really use it anymore, but that system was amazing, they even made ranks/tournament with that program to give out the top players the invite to Japanese Nationals. I mainly hope that they somehow expand it in a better way for our system in the future though.

I'm in the "I'll believe it when I see it launched" crowd, but for what it's worth, I am super excited if it comes out.

The website says "Win new cards!" and Adam Capriola's email says " will initially feature three preconstructed Pokémon TCG decks" Emphasis on "initially" so I'm hopeful that they will improve it with custom decks.

Sounds like a demo, like that old TCG PC game...lame for anyone not learning how to play.

Right....it'll be fantastic to get new people into the game.
For already competitive players, not so much.

Pokemon already has tons of Flash games on their Web site.
I see this as just another one, albeit more sophisticated.

You're right of course, hence I said was cool... I never got a chance to play around with it :frown:

Still, if this takes off, who knows, maybe, just maybe something bigger can come of it

Sounds Good. I can understand why only theme decks can be used.

The programing of execution and AI rules on each and every card isn't trivial. If they go with theme decks, they can control the cards they need to program. A computer AI program can't execute a Lost Gar startegy, or then decide how to execute a attack plan for a gyrados. The Ai strategy would need to be custom for each deck.

Again, the goal of teaching overall game mechanics is pretty good. (As in the old Base Set instructional CD.) More advance strategy is something you need to sick a team of IBM'ers and BIG BLUE on.

This is beta so they may not let you do alot of things in it, they are just making sure everything works but when they do a full release they better have PvP and deck editing or els its useless. They should really try to make it like magic online, that is amazing.

Everything I would say already has been. I think I'll be keeping an eye on this to see what becomes of it. I too hope it evolves into something that will make it worth a competitive players while as well as one fresh out the box.

That's so cool!!!!!!!!!!!

It's going to be so much fun.

Also I read the information, and it says you get to choose from 7 pre-constructed decks. Does pre-constructed decks mean already made, or you make on your own?

When I read this I thought I'd ---- myself!!! This is awesome!!! :D AMAZINNNGG!!! I wonder if there's codes in every pokemon pack that gives you either what you got in the pack.. that'd be awesome! or it'd give you points to buy packs online with like P!P Money.

If they can turn this into something like Magic Online, where players can play against each other online with their own cards and decks it will be the single best thing to grow the card game in the history of the game. Imagine how much interest will be drawn to the game when players can not only learn the game online, but enjoy playing against players from all around the world. This idea has a ton of potential and I hope a lot of time and resources go into making it work.
