Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokémon TCG online in April!

That's so cool!!!!!!!!!!!

It's going to be so much fun.

Also I read the information, and it says you get to choose from 7 pre-constructed decks. Does pre-constructed decks mean already made, or you make on your own?

Pre-constructed means just that, previously constructed, so it'll be selecting from available decks with no modification, at least initially. A Theme Deck is a pre-constructed deck.

Hmmm... Let's see... Control Panel... Programs and Features... Redshark... Uninstall Redshark... Thank you!

I hope it will be as great as it seems :D

EDIT: At least with future revisions, this should be great.

Sounds like the newbiest thing I ever heard of. Who cares if about playing online against a computer when you can only use preconstructed decks?

Think about it, Do you think this is really aimed for us? The already commited players? No it's a game to try and get new players interested. Give them just enough to get interested and then hopefully they go to league. Yes, it is newbie but sometimes that's what you need :)

If they can turn this into something like Magic Online, where players can play against each other online with their own cards and decks it will be the single best thing to grow the card game in the history of the game. Imagine how much interest will be drawn to the game when players can not only learn the game online, but enjoy playing against players from all around the world. This idea has a ton of potential and I hope a lot of time and resources go into making it work.

I second this completely. Need to see this eventually grow into a MTGO type service. It would be a dream come true.

I know right?! Plus, it'd be pretty awesome if you could pay Poke-Dollars, earnable by battling online against friends or random players or even the "Gym Leaders". and you'd be able to buy packs and get random cards, for example if i bought a triumphant pack...

1 Gastly
1 cubone
1 yanma
1 swinub
1 pidgey
1 RH Machoke
1 Carnivine
1 haunter
1 seeker
1 junk arm

total randomness and Yes, with primes and legends but i put an average bad pack right there.

^
Yeah, seriously.

"LOOK LOOK I HAVE A SHINY THEME DECK!!!!1!!1!11!!1"

Congrats, kid, your deck overloaded the servers. Now the game will crash, and Pokemon will take as long to fix it as they did the rankings.

o_O

Is this like the old TCG video game for the Game Boy? Interesting...

Wouldn't it just be insane if they Pokemon TCG for the Nintendo DS?

The top screen would be there play area and the bottom screen your play area, and you use the stylus to attach cards and draw cards from the deck. Alongside this, you could play online through wifi and test decks. Then, when a new set comes out, the game just updates with wifi....god it would be amazing

The only real reason this could be used is for people who've never played the game before to learn how...

*shrug*

Of course, time will see if they'll expand it to be more than a re-make of Julie.

Why do I feel like this could end the use of leagues or even tourney's?

"OK, guys. Online tournament on the 20th of April. To play you need to have a Wi-Fi connection and be registered by 10:00 am."

Aw man, I don't have a DS or a friend of mine doesn't have one. Another friend of mine has one, but he's using it.

Oh goody, a great time to use an update system. Oh, but wait, DS cards can only hold so much information and really can't expand it's memory.
Darn, my batteries died and I can't find my Adapter, guess I can't play.

/end rant

I mean, if the TCG was meant to play on a hand-held, they would've made a second or third game after the GB version. Not to mention that that P!P wouldn't be around and we wouldn't have cards to trade or tips to share.

Again, I am interested and how this site is going to work and weather people will just stay at home all the time or go out and meet real players to have fun and learn new things.

Your points are valid, buuut... They did make more versions of the GB game. They were just exclusive to japan. Go look it up on bulbapedia.

I signed up for it, hope it turns out good. Of course I probably won't get to play it very often due to lack of internet at home (visiting parents house while they are out of town). Unless I suddenly get a really good paying job quickly.

not much more detail on the UK Toynews website but it does indicate that future theme decks will be supported along with further features and additions

http://www.toynews-online.biz/news/33539/Pokmon-launches-online-TCG said:
Firm joins growing virtual world trend, taking long-standing brand online.

Pokemon Trainer Challenge is a new online version of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, distributed in the UK by Esdevium Games (www.pokemontcg.com).
The new website joins a growing number of toy ranges with an online element, such as Club Penguin, Moshi Monsters and Webkinz.

The Pokemon game will initially feature three preconstructed Pokemon TCG decks for players to choose from in order to battle against 14 virtual players in three leagues. The online game is set to launch in April.

As part of the launch, players will be able to purchase the new Pokemon TCG: Black & White preconstructed decks from April 6th, which will unlock an identical virtual deck in the online world.

After Pokemon Trainer Challenge launches, further features and additions will be launched over the months to come, including the opportunity to play future preconstructed decks in the online game.

J.C. Smith, director of consumer marketing for The Pokémon Company International, commented:
"Pokemon Trainer Challenge provides convenient, on-demand access to exciting TCG game play for all Pokemon TCG fans, whether they’re currently playing, coming back to the action, or just getting introduced to the world of Pokemon TCG for the first time.
"Now anyone who wants to play Pokémon TCG can, either live or online."
In order to play with the new Pokemon TCG: Black & White preconstructed decks in Pokemon Trainer Challenge, players will need to create a free Pokémon Trainer Club account at www.pokemon.com/us/account/login.
