Hey everyone!
As you guys know, Pokegym's anniversary is coming up and we're going to do a celebration week like we did last year. One of the contests that is going to be back this year is the fanfic contest, which I ran, if any of you remember it/participated. Bulbasnore and I have talked it over and we're going to release the rules ahead of time so that you guys can get a head start on your stories if you want to enter, because we felt that last year, no one had enough time to write.
PLEASE NOTE that we are not accepting submissions yet. Anything that is submitted before 7:00AM on April 23rd will be ignored. However, on April 23rd if you're already done, you can email your entry to [email protected]. I prefer the stories to be attached to the email as Word Documents, but it might be a good idea to copy/paste the text into the email as sometimes attachments don't work.
You must get your entries in by April 29th at 11:59pm. We will leave them up for reading and rating until the 9th and announce the winner on the 10th.
So here are the guidelines and we hope that you all will be inspired and participate! We had nine entries last year and they were all wonderful but we're hoping that by putting up the rules early that more people will join in.
~Your story may be about anything related to Pokemon. It doesn't need to be strictly related to the world of the TV series. You could base it on the card game, the Game Boy game, the action figures, anything! Be creative! We had some great entries last year.
~You may start writing now, but I repeat, do not email your entry to me until April 23rd. I will not read them.
~Your entry should be 2000-3000 words (roughly 3-6 typed pages). It's all right if it's a couple hundred words off in either direction, but try to keep to the limits as much as you can. Anything too extreme will be emailed back to you with a request to shorten it/lengthen it.
~DO NOT POST ANYTHING ON THE FORUM. This is a biggie. All the entries will be posted by me once I have checked them for plaigiarism/adult content. This does not mean that I am putting my name on your work, it's just that we want them all to be anonymous until the winner is announced. Your entry will be disqualified if you do not follow this rule.
~This should go without saying, but don't plaigiarize the TV series/games/any other media. I will know it if you do and you will be disqualified.
~Do not create dummy accounts to submit multiple entries...we had a similar fiasco last year and it's not fair to the other participants for you to do this, and not fun for us to hunt you down. So don't do it. You will be disqualified.
~Once you have submitted an entry and I have posted it for people to read, you may not resubmit. So make sure you're happy with what you turn in before you turn it in.
~If you entered last year, you may not resubmit last year's entry. It must be completely new.
~If you write regularly for the fanfic forum, you may not submit any part of anything you have posted here already. It must be completely new and I will be checking.
~Keep to the forum rules. Whatever you write must not go over a PG rating.
~Most importantly, have fun writing! I'm looking forward to what everyone will come up with.
Cheers and see you around the forums!

EDIT 4/2/07--The party week for the anniversary is being postponed until later in the month so I'm going to have to ask you all to keep working on your entries, but hold onto them for now. Please keep an eye out for updates...we should know when we're actually going to start soon.
Also, the word count cap has been reset to 3000 words to give people more leeway.
EDIT 4/4/07--Edited to include the new dates. Have fun writing and I'm looking forward to seeing your entries on the 23rd!
