First of all, if you don't remember me, last year I was Xatu (Pokegym 2/Overall winner).

Anyway, by buying NFL Head Coach for the PC, I received a free EA Sports Fantasy Football Commissioner Account (A $50 value). Since I would normally have no use for the account, I am proposing the idea that we could use that account for the Pokegym league this year.

While looking through the options for the league, it seems very powerful (I could easily recreate last year's roster/scoring rules...) but very complex (...and still not touched a third of the options). The main reason for the possible change would be for live scoring, but the main problem would be that we could only have one league (unless you want to put half the people on Yahoo instead, which doesn't seem fair), although it could be up to 32 people (but I'd likely put an absolute max on 20).

Edit: Every member needs to confirm the final draft date and time (August 14, 5pm Eastern). I am also floating the idea of holding the draft at 3pm Eastern (respond to that also).

I played last year and definately am planning to again this year. (My team was AreYouInsane?!?!) This sounds great but like you said we won't have enough room for everybody. I don't see why we couldn't have some people on Yahoo, I was pretty pleased with how they handled things. (Except for having to pay $$ for live scoring)

MadHatter- I believe EA got the idea from the football head coach in Europe for PC/Xbox/PS2 so it must've been good if they decided to make an NFL head coach.

It's actually becoming a bit boring now that I'm in the preseason (the game interface isn't the most polished), but the FF account was worth $10 more than the game, so it's okay.

So which option does everyone think is better:

1: 2 leagues-about 10 people each-1 EA, 1 Yahoo (larger talent pool, but some get less features)

2: 1 league-about 20 people-EA (everyone gets features, but smaller talent pool)

Edit: Also, would you like the same roster/scoring as last year (see here for reference) or to change them slightly/dramatically (a near necessity if we go with option 2).

IMO I would think a 20 person league would be nice, since everybody could get the same features, and that we don't need to go through the hassle of having to find out how the people in the other league are doing.

I definitely like having larger teams so I think 1 EA - 1 Yahoo sounds good. Also it looks like we may have enough people for three leagues 1 EA - 2 Yahoo. It seems fair to do a random selection of who gets to be in the EA league.

Is it really fair to do a random selection? I would personally want to choose the EA league based on last year. I don't want the EA league to become like what I remember of Pokegym 2 last year, where about half the teams weren't active. It isn't as fun when so many teams are dead weight, so the EA league should be based on last year's activeness.
 
So let's see the results so far:

Simple head count: 12 (Including me)

Many Small Leagues: 0

One Big League: 5

No Preference: 2

Remember, if we choose one big league, the roster will have to be shrunken down greatly (with a 20 man league at the current settings, 4 people won't get a defense for example), so give me suggestions on what roster/scoring modifications you want (especially if you choose option 2).

People should be limited to 1 Defense per team and the scoring upped for them possibly. That could help the Defense problem a bit. Ill try to think more on the roster/scoring options, and get back to you...unless something happens to be mentioned before I get back!

Now that I think about it your right, picking people seems good. I just don't like the idea of having 20 people in one league.

Along with the Defense issue, the QB's/RB's will go into second strings, and the WR's go into almost the third strings. This is assuming that we use a twenty-team league, if what FlipsAreCool said (about possibly having three small leagues) is true, it would be worse.

Speaking of that, what would be everyone's absolute maximum for a league size?

Also, everyone who simply posted "they're in," choose your preferred options for league size, scoring and/or roster size, or at least acknowledge that you don't have a preference. If you don't, then I will likely assume that you won't be active in the league (which means you won't get in the EA league, or possibly not get a spot period).

I honestly wouldn't like to see anything bigger than 12 teams. After that there just isn't enough talent to go around.
