Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokegym Fantasy NFL Football 2009 -- Week 7

Hey guys, the draft starts in about 10 minutes. Right now, it's just me and Bliz in the room. Anybody else gonna come?

I JUST got home from Back to School Shopping :/

At least I got an OK team.
I probably would've done worse if I were actually here to draft ... lol

Damn, that was FUN!!! I forget just how interesting a good live draft was until I played in one! Only in Live could you go RB-RB-RB in the first 3 rounds and get nothing worse than Tier 2 (Forte, Jacobs, Portis). Then getting the true PPR BEAST in the 4th at WR, and a QBBC that isn't terrible (Ben, Eli).

Anybody want me to post the draft results for either League here?

And taking Hester with your first pick? I think half the draft bowled themselves over laughing at that. HOMER!!!

My receiver core is awesome too we should have some fun this season

and sneaking beanie and hightower out when i did was awesome

I was just happy that I got 3 Tier 2+ RBs (Forte, Jacobs, Portis). Seriously, how does Clinton Portis fall through round 3?

I also got some pretty decent value picks at WR with Welker in the 4th, Williams in the 5th (he's the #1 for Romo, and he's got talent), and Gonzalez in the 7th. BTW, how does Olsen fall through the 6th round?

After that, my QBBC Eli and Ben. I started a combination of both of them last year in various leagues, and they've done pretty good for me. They're matchup starts, as their teams are roughly equal on offense (Eli's lack of targets is made up for by Ben's relatively lower skill set).

I'd also call the New England Defense something of a value in the 10th round, as they always seem to be good IRL.

Crabtree was a reach, but he's got TREMENDOUS upside. Bradshaw is the necessary Jacobs handcuff, and he'll probably go for 100 a few weeks.

Norwood was a total hate draft on elipses, but he'll have the same value as Bradshaw all year I think.

Mark Clayton always seems to do something fantasy relevant (80 yards/wk, 8 TD/yr). Bennett has upside with Vandy bud Cutler.

Briggs and Ruud were tremendous for me last year, so I went with them again.

Overall, not a bad draft at all.

I saw waht you were doing with running backs and decided I would do it with WR's

with my 1st pick (sixth overall) I pulled a Homer and Picked up Fitz he is the best receiver on the board and will put up numbers all year long

2nd Round the older better Manning was there so it seem like the obvious pick

3rd round I was shocked to find Bouldin still on the board so figured I had the #1 Receiver might as well get his parter in crime

4th Round I was starting to feel the pinch of no running back so I picked up Addai

5th Gonzalez may be getting up there in age but he is going to be a baeast in ATL

6th Beanie fell to the 31st pick for the cardinals and like a homer I think he's the missing piece to make thier offense the most pontent one in the NFL

7th Felix Jones the homer in me died a bit having to take him but I know depth at RB is going to be huge in this league

8th Took the Titans D here Jeff Fisher is the longest tenured coach in the NFL for a reason

9th Torry Holt still has some gas in his tank and should be a nice weapon for Garrard this year

10th my back up QB Trent Edwards put up some great numbers for me in the past and now he has TO to throw to

11th My handcuff RB Timmy Hightower

12th Shockey should put up some decent numbers in NO

13th Derrick Mason is Money plain and simple the dude is like the energizer bunny

14th Homer Pick but Rackers is still one of the besat Kickers in the league

15th HOMer Pick DRC had some great flashes last year expect more this year

16th AW in the heart and soul of the Cards D Win or lose it's on his sholders

17th Isaac Bruce Couldn't resist putting back together the greatest show on turf

Like you said I'm real proud of this draft

Wow. I just went to work on my roster and ... there's players there I don't even remember being on my roster at all.

Like FIVE of the them appeared out of nowhere!

Anyone else have this problem ?

I just think that I'm THAT forgetful.

It no big deal man. I have four teams goin' on and I think that I just got it twisted.

one of my teachers had the same problem he drafted brandon jacobs with the 9th pick overall and aaron

rodgers ended up in his roster instead its probaly a glitch tough luck

Week 1 Standings for Pokegym 1:

Code:
1. Lovie's Stern Mind 1-0-0 1.000	159.40 W-1 3
2. Injury Reserve. 1-0-0 1.000 148.77 W-1 1
3. Ninja Strike! 1-0-0 1.000 140.39 W-1
4. RogueArchetype Pawns 1-0-0 1.000 132.48 W-1 14
5. Go Colts! 1-0-0 1.000 106.20 W-1
6. Woo Woo Woo 0-1-0 .000 120.51 L-1
7. ...ellipsis point... 0-1-0 .000 105.47 L-1 1
8. BLiZzArD 0-1-0 .000 100.15 L-1 1
9. Xatu 0-1-0 .000 94.45 L-1 4
10. STC 0-1-0 .000 89.29 L-1 4

The Colts beat ellipsis by less than a point thanks to very strong QB and WR play, while EP could have gotten the win by benching his injured players (Pierre Thomas, Steve Breaston, and Kevin Walter) in favor of his other bench options (Ginn, Davis, and Buckhalter). Any one of his bench would have earned him the win for the week.

Rogue Archetype beat Blizzard by 30 points thanks to strong and consistent RB and WR play. Only one player out of either of those positions scored less than 10 points, and Stewart's 5 points aren't too shabby for a backup. His QBs underperformed, but he's rectifying the situation for this week. Bliz, on the other hand, had lots of players underperforming all across the board.

Ninja Strike! crushed Xatu by 45 points this week thanks to very impressive QB play and Reggie Wayne's insane start. Hightower also exceeded expectations with 13 points, but the rest of the roster left something to be desired. Xatu was cursed by Jake Delhomme's rocky start, and had only 2 players in double digits this week.

Injury Reserve had the top spot in this year's draft, and he did not disappoint with Adrian Peterson going for 28 points. Between that and Philly's 29 point defensive effort, he could have cruised with subpar performances everywhere else. Of course, he had more double digit efforts. Woo Woo Woo had a very solid outing. There's absolutely nothing to be ashamed about with 125 points this week. But you just ran up against a very powerful opponent at the wrong time. Be happy with 5 double digit guys this week, and move on to the next.

I started Drew Brees. That would've been enough with subpar performances from everybody else this week. But, there were still another 6 double digit guys this week, including the strongest IDP play out of anybody this season thus far. A 70 point win is nothing to sneeze at. STC had horrible luck with his QB1 down with an injury. Don't worry, man. You just came up against the wrong opponent at the wrong time. Watch the waiver wires over the next week. You'll find something very interesting to pick up if you're looking correctly.

Pickups of the Week include Mike Bell by Rogue Archetype, who scored double digits in replacing Pierre Thomas. Xatu nabbing the trendy Chris Henry off Waivers to stow on the bench for later was also a fantastic move.

I'll do Pokegym 2 later today, after a couple of ppl have posted. Cya!
