PokeGym needs Reporters, Writers, and Translators!

Rulemaster & Ryan: Getting into arguments is not "Feature Articles" or "News". Those posts being deleted have nothing to do with contributions. If you can't see the difference, I'm sorry.

As for posting on their own sites, that applies to WPM and very few others.

Getting banned for saying someone has something stuck up a part of thier anatomy is hardly a "weird" thing to be banned over. More of a "Duh, of course it gets a ban" to me.

Anyway, as noted, this is a focused topic. Further discussion of who's banned and why (on this topic) will be deleted. Take it to another thread.

Ryan: I'm not sure what program you are referencing. Feel free to PM me about it.
As for compensation, we don't pay for articles. We're not a money-making site. The only money we generate from our one banner goes to pay site costs and run occasional contests. As I said, this is about Community. Community involves giving back to the Community.

I agree 100% with you PokePop. Pokegym could become greater than it already is if more of the community participated in keeping pokegym fresh and new. Kind of like how a community will gather together and go clean up parks, the Pokegym community can gather together and add more content to Pokegym and make the forum even better.

I'd love to be an article writer, but I'd hate to be on some kind of deadline. Usually I'd only write about things that affect me in some way, or trigger an response from me, and you can't put those kinds of events on a schedule.

Are these positions open as in anyone can participate in them as often or as frequent as they want? So if I felt an article coming on, could I submit it, and maybe next week submit a new tidbit of information/news about future cards? You know, less of a job, but more of a "in your free time" activity?

Would that be a better way to explain each of these activites?

Articles can either be an occasional thing or on a schedule.
So far, contributors have sent in articles when a topic strikes them. We haven't set any deadlines for anyone.

For News, I'm really looking for someone to become a regular, dependable contributor. But if people learn about something and it hasn't been posted, please do write it up, as long as it meets the criteria I gave above. It doesn't hurt to have some news contributors that are specialists or occasional, as long as we can develop one or two main reporters.

APT: Good can be defined in many ways and might have definitions that differ from one person to another.

IMHO, you don't need a good player to write good strategy articles. You need to be a good strategic player that has good ideas and is creative to write good strategy articles. I think if you ask around, you'll see some players that seem to come up with good ideas all the time yet their "track record" isn't as golden as someone who tends to win every tournament they go to.

Of course, the writer needs to know the game very well. Just being creative doesn't cut it either. But having to be a "good" player to write deck/strategy articles just wouldn't be the correct call IMHO.

Pokepop - why not ask WaterPokemonMaster if the translations of the upcoming sets from his website can also be published on Pokegym?

Pokebeach and Pokegym do serve different kind of goals/public, so why not share?
Pokegym can give the credit to pokebeach for the translations.

I agree with you pokepop i just didnt rly say anything.

I wouldn't mind being selected for news reporter....I think I have been doing a good job posting new info on the newest pkmn games, so a VG reporter status would be cool...if you select me that is.

I'll take the deck job, i wrote one huge(!!) article about DragTrode and one about Ludicargo that wasn't that big. But yeah, i guess i'm good at making decks =/

I'm not talking about cash. I'm talking about being made a forum mod or something for submitting enough articles and following the forum rules.

Would that be possible?

Let us know if you find out who grinder is too.

Why would they give people moderator positions for submitting articles and following the rules they have to follow? In 5 years, we could have tens of mods in each category from just people submitting articles.

I'd really like to write articles for the 'Gym, but I just don't know what to write em about.
Is there any specific area that you think could use more coverage and/or a more in depth look?

ME AND PENGUINMASTER KNOW WHO HE IS.

I would like to be able to write archetype articles. I have always been good at typing things, I have good spelling and grammsr, and always try to help decks I think I can. I can also be a good writer, so if I can't be an archetype article writer, I would like to be an article writer. I would like to be both, if possible. Thank you for your time.

EDIT: See Scizor's post below.

Here's the advantages of such a system:

-It costs no money, while giving people a reason to continue submitting articles.
-The position can be rescinded in 5 seconds if it needs to be.
-It gives Article Writers (ie. what you want) a feeling that they are wanted.
-It gives the writers a reason to continue writing.
-It gives the gym more people online to 'take care' of troublesome posts.

Now here's all the disadvantages I can think of:

-The person might abuse their newly found power. (read #2 above for the answer to this).

So, does this sound like a good or a bad idea now?
