Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokemon, a new format! (HELP WITH IDEAS?)

I would say there are probably better options than Bill, but that's just me. I honestly hate wasting a supporter to draw 2 cards only :\

I like that someone else is using Mr. Fuji haha, that card is amazing! Nice list so far, hopefully you'll be able to finish it soon:)

You are correct about Bill; there are a total of 6 cards strictly superior to Bill/Mom's Kindness :D

Island Hermit Dragon Frontiers-76, Team Galactic's Mars Secret Wonders-123, Team Rocket's Trickery Undaunted-78, Cheren Boundaries Crossed-148, Buck's Training Legends Awakened-130, Emcee's Chatter Unleashed-73

Impressive list haha. Although Normal_Guy does have the issue of "lack of cards" so I'm not sure if he will be able to get any of those. Although there are a lot out there. My favorite still being Erika and Professor Oak :D

yeah dont have an impressive collection so this deck was more for fun to see what it would be like to build a deck for this format

I really do enjoy deck building. It is a great way to express your own personality and put your favorite combos/poke together and see what happens. Deck building for SU is very fun! I've spent countless hours thinking up ideas. As time passes my collection gross, picking up small lots on eBay here and there helps.

I've been testing out donphan + Mr. Mime. Oh my gosh is it good!!! I had a T1 donphan + mr. mime. Donphan also had expert belt haha. It was just crazyness!!

I don't know how to help you with this, but I am excited to try it out, I assume this was brought on by discovering the Magic The Gathering format "EDH", yes? Though obviously it would work way differently here, as lands and energies translate way differently. Seems like you're really onto something though. Looks fun.

I used to be an EDH player. I transferred my love for the format to pokemon. Sadly MTG was just not my game, I was never truly happy playing it.

I really can't sleep, so decided to throw something together here.
In an 8 prize format with all real EXes banned, I think it's pretty reasonable to build a stall/deckout deck.

Well..it's a stall deck. You do as much as possible to make sure the opponent does as little as possible, and then you just wait. Most damage attacks in the deck are awful and generally not worth using, but there is a small Poison subtheme to grab prizes when you really need to. There are many infinite combos in the deck, some of which I will explain briefly.

Slowpoke Fossil / Sableye DEX + Energy Removal + Energy Retrieval (and their super variants):
(Super) Energy Removal every turn. Because no fun allowed.

Slowpoke Fossil / Sableye DEX + Goop Gas Attack
A one-sided Power lock, you can just choose to use the Goop Gas Attack at the end of your turn and then recycle it immediately. There's also Mesprit + Scoop Up to accomplish the same thing.

Gliscor LA + Gligar on the bench + one of the walls:
Attacking is fun right? Especially if I'm the only one doing it.

On a side note, I would consider banning Spiritomb AR if you want this to be a format just for funsies. He might not be as powerful as EXes, but he's infinitely more stupid to play against. Nobody liked turn 1 trainer lock decks, that stuff was absolutely awful while it was in Modified.

Question. Why ban Mismagius GL Lv.X and Alakazam/Reuniclus in the same deck? It seems silly that you would ban two cards that have no real interaction with each other.

It comes out of a ridiculous combination of those 2 with Unown E/G/Q (the tool Unown). Essentially, with that combination, you can heal off all the damage you take every single turn, so that your opponent will never KO you if they can't do so in 1 hit.

The exact sequence is as follows:-

1. Play down Unown.
2. Shift how much ever damage you can onto it(without KOing it) with Alakazam/Reuniclus.
3. Use its Tool power to shed off the damage.
4. Return the Unown to your hand by means of Mismagius GL Lv.X's Magical Return / Porygon2's 3-D Reset / Masquerain's Tool Reversal.
5. Rinse and repeat till you remove all damage from the field.

I don't think it will take too much imagination beyond this point to realize why the people whoc ame up with the rules banned the combination.

I am curious as to why the banned cards are actually banned from this format? (Might be a dumb question, if it is, I apologize.

Most of the EXes are overpowered in comparision to the rest of the playing field, and are hence removed. I would assume Victini EX, Shaymin EX, Mew EX and Celebi EX are retained because they have lesser HP than the rest, and are hence easier to deal with.

Speaking of which, the OP should probably add Masquerain (Plasma Blast) to the combo ban if he still wants it as part of the ruleset.

Not exactly returning to bump this post. Mainly to apologize for being absent for so long! I've been dealing with some health issues and haven't been able to spend much time with pokemon/pokegym.
Also I'd like to say that pokemon 150 was probably what I should've gone along with to begin with. I've spent some time going through every post and private message regarding this format my friends and I created and it didn't grow up very well. I believe I should've listened to a friend of mine and just went with pokemon 150's rules. Their format is much more balanced and they have the time to test all the kinks. So I do apologize for backing out of this format, but I do not have what it takes to keep up with it. The more I think about rules and what not, the more I feel like 150 got it right.
So I wanted to thank everyone who posted here for their support, posts, and feedback. Thank you!
