Pokémon Bank is an application and service for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y that will allow you to deposit, store, and manage your Pokémon in private Boxes on the Internet! Pokémon Bank is a paid service, with an annual charge for usage.

According to www.PokemonXY.com, Pokemon Bank can hold up to 3,000 Pokemon!

Also, coming with Pokemon Bank is another service called Poke Transfer.

When you download Pokémon Bank, you can also download the linked application Poké Transporter! When you insert a Pokémon Black Version, Pokémon White Version, Pokémon Black Version 2, or Pokémon White Version 2 Game Card into a Nintendo 3DS system, you'll be able to use Poké Transporter to transfer Pokémon from these games into their own online Boxes. Then, you can easily transfer those Pokémon into Pokémon X and Pokémon Y usingPokémon Bank!

Poke Transporter will be a free service, while Pokemon Bank will come with a free trial period when it releases.

Well, this answers the question about transferring Pokemon from Black and White games. I think this looks like a great system, even though there will be a charge and you will have to have internet access when you want to make transfers. It appears to be a very useful feature and it is interesting that there will be some hack checking built it. A big thumbs up to that!!! The search feature looks GREAT as well. No more searching through multiple boxes for that particular Snorlax with Adamant nature.

The only sad thing about it is that it may not be releasing until the end of december, meaning that for a good two months people won't have access to their older Pokemon.

I don't consider myself a cheap person, but I am not a big fan of Pokemon Box's annual fee. I can definitely see the benefit of cloud storage for it, but I feel like I'm getting fleeced. Also, I'm renaming this Nintendo direct "Iwata and friends reminisce over pokemon and we don't learn much."

Edit: if the rumor is true and bank is only around $5 a year, then I can live with that.

Well, I'm annoyed with Nintendo. Seriously, I was hopping that I would not be acquired to get online in order to transfer my Pokemon. As a result, my siblings and myself, who do not do online related Pokemon stuff, cannot transfer our older gen Pokemon. Yay.

I guess that I don't understand how you can say that you cannot trade your older pokemon because you're not allowed to do anything pokemon related online, yet you're posting on an online pokemon site. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

The games and the forums are separate, are they not?

Maybe you could go to a McDonalds, or Starbucks that has free Wifi and do it there?

It is really simple to make your home Wi-Fi. Buy a Linksys and hook it up to you IP. You can get one for a real reasonable price.

I hope they make it simple to pay for the cloud app via funds on your 3ds after you purchase a code card. I can understand the fee, heck- it is to help pay for the on-line storage. People pay money to have Netflix and the what not- how can this fee be that much of an issue unless the fee is redonkuliously high.

$5.00, 365 days- your looking at what, $0.01.369863 cents a day? Electric companies charge that fee per KW. I do not think it is that much to have a company have some fee for a 365/24/7 service to cover electricity, "storage", the up-keep, ect.....................

At least so far the GS has been a free service, right? There you go, a reasonable compromise.

I do believe we should have expected this in some way. Electronics change, and more options are available- what, complain now that more is being offered when all of this is optional as it is?

Personally- I like the changes. Less cheating/hacking- larger storage so there is more room on the game cart itself, I could list a lot more reasons I like the changes. Either way, the company listened to a lot of what us gamers and TCG players have wanted change- giving it to us the best they can with more advanced tech that makes the over all Pokémon scene staying fresh, new, and with more options then what we have had for the last few years.

Not saying Nintendo is the God of gaming- but at least it is a company that has been doing mostly right by what I have grown up on, like, hobbied, and enjoyed more then what other game companies have done for me in comparison to my entertainment.

just my thoughts is all.....................

While two months is a good bit, I'm glad they didn't release it right away. That way, people are forced to play through with a team they catch, rather than overpowered Pokemon they send in.

How will it be 'less cheating/hacking'? Curious.
The 3DS has never been hacked. When a cheat device (AR) was created for the 3DS, Nintendo patched the problem before the AR hit the market. Thus, no cheated Pokmeon, unless they find another way around it.

What's interesting is if Nintendo has VG events before Bank goes live and people have to use their brand new XY Pokemon. Doubt that would happen though.

Still, people can cheat Pokemon in B/W/2 and then transfer to X/Y if their onboard cheating prevention tool doesn't catch it.

Wasn't the first Video Game tournament season for Pokemon Black & Pokemon White restricted to just Pokemon in the Unova Pokedex? It wouldn't be too surprising if there were limitations for the upcoming season to just X/Y.

Its a bad idea to charge people to transfer their Pokemon. This should be a free service like it always has been.

It's $5 a year. FIVE. BUCKS. Skip one coffee for a day and you get to transfer your Pokemon for a year. No big deal.

The only bad thing about it is that it needs an internet connection, but there's more than enough free wi-fi spots around the world that it shouldn't be a problem.

X/Y versions will more then likely be the host games for VGC tournies beginning in 2014, Winter Regionals.

Free trials of the game apps will last long enough for you to transfer over all of your BW/BW2 game Pokemon. You will not need to actually have the Bank, it is an option. Pretty sure yor X/Y game carts will have your PC boxes like normal.

There will be a Wi-Fi X/Y tournament as a test run to check out the Hack/Cheat implementation of the system.

This will weed out all hacked/cheated Pokemon with in the system, and for your games.

$5.00- I already stated the cost per day. This is better then having Pokemon Box, or some other method that limits access or requires more hardware/game just to be able to transfer. I would not be suprised if the system allows you to trade from the Bank, verses having to switch game carts, trade to and from, ect....

How many people pay for fees to sell/trade/buy as it is? At least we are not going to get charged that monthly.

3,000 Pokemon in virtual storage- looks as if Gen 7 is due next year in October.......

Still, its something they dont need to charge for. Most players NEVER fill up their boxes in game and since Pokemon XY is a 3ds game, with up to 8 GB of of space on the card for all the data and save files, the game should be able to have 1 of each Pokemon on it. I have to pay to be able to use space I and most players will never use to use a "free" service to move my pokemon to a new game which every player never had to do. So basically they are charging everyone 5 bucks to move their Pokemon from one game to another. This makes me think XY will only have 2 boxes in the PC to store Pokemon...

This is a rip off no matter how you look at it.

Mixed feelings about the cost personally. Also, free hotspots are not a universal answer, especially ones that you have to log into with a password or click some portal to access in a web browser, I've never been able to get those to work in the past with Pokemon games and online. So you need to get kinda lucky with whatever the provider is.

But yeah, this does answer how they'll do it, though personally I think just messing with the GBU or GTS to allow online upload/saving is better than having to pay for a mega box since reading it, you have to have one to use the other.
