^ yeah but most kids arn't interested in possed dolls. More are intrested in "The cute pikachu" or "The fearsome charzard!" Also, kids probally stick to pokemon more because they remember when they were on the playground trading a venasaur for a blastoise and how it was "all the rage."

When I was little, I'm talking like 3 years old, Pokemon taught me how to read. I learned out of necessity to fit in with my older brother, who at school constantly traded and played with his friends. I played the gameboy games, I played the cards, but I rarely did well due to my lack of knowledge. I became hooked. Within weeks I read my first full-fledged book, started showing amazing progress in math, and suddenly became smart!
My mom will be the first to tell you that Pokemon taught me to read. At age 4 I used Pokemon to teach another kid how to read. I am now in 9th grade, In highly advanced classes (IB program if you know what that is) taking calculus as a Freshman, and consider myself highly gifted. I credit my interest in learning at a young age almost entirely to pokemon. I'm glad others finally see the light.

As long as we're talking about other games' affects on children, I would say that the Dragonball (and Naruto) CCG is probably the best game when it comes to learning to count, and deal with numbers in general.

However, I don't think we're really supposed to be comparing what helps what, I just think we're supposed to be excited that Pokemon can help children with math and such, and that a positive piece of media was released about it to boot!

Finally a great quote for my signature!

I completely believe that being exposed to writing and reading at an early age will help you later on. In this case, that was Pokemon cards!

I was actually slow on thinking before I got to this game, it took me forever to think or make up my mind on a certain subject. Though, when I started playing this game, my mind is faster, and works faster. With all sorts of math and thinking built into this card game.
