Pokemon XY Base Set - Cards to look for?

Hands down, Yveltal EX makes dark all popular again.
Fairy cards (not too familiar with the specific cards) will definitely be seen.
Aside from that, Mega Blastoise, maybe the occasional Greninja, and the trainers like Shauna, Red Card, and Letter will be pretty applicable in decks.
(I am by no means an expert, but I hope that helps!)

Makes dark popular "again"? Dark's been popular, has not stopped being popular since darkrai ex was printed. It's constantly winning regionals, states and even worlds. It was a major force all last season, the season before and THE ENTIRETY of this season. The usage of the word "Again" seems weird to me.
Cards to set aside though:
Fairy cards due to the hyped nature of them.
Yveltal ex and baby
All ultras (just as trade fodder)
All trainers, specifically muscle band, red card and shauna.
Throw pretty much the rest of it away. I say pretty much, because there ARE other noteworthy cards.
