Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokemon's Poor Anime Health

Almost anyone who's written a Pokémon fanfic has no say in how the show is written, and therefore his or her claim means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

That's not quite true as they need some structure from the show and they take certain aspects of the show and use them as so called "side story" or "alternate universe". So IMO they do since they relay somewhat on the show for ideas.

Looks like someone didn't get the thread. Not exactly the most epic whoosh ever, but still a nice whoosh nonetheless.

so called "side story"

That's actually what the SS in Pokémon SS used to stand for.

I've since dropped it (now it's an acronym without expansion, kinda like the DCI), but I'm still amused you saw fit to mention my fic by name.

Shoulda have named it "Gaiden." Most people won't know what it means, but darn if it doesn't sound cool.

well, here's my opinion
pokemon original-johto=awesome
pokemon hoen league=ok
hoen after changed voices=not as good
diamond and pearl=KILLED IT!!

What? Diamond & Pearl is clearly an improvement over the previous season.

The last season didn't have Pochama, Pachirisu, or Buoysel.

I think SS has enough illogical wapanese naming without naming the entire series in that fashion. And I'm not kidding about the wapanese stuff being illogical... "Chikara Yowai", what the **** was I thinking?

The other day i saw a little of the "New Era of PKMN Show" (I'm from the old school, like everyone )

I see a rare new team (Not Rocket) trying to catch Raikou in a Crystal and a bunch of trainers trying to free him with their pokes, like YuGiOh Anime style... and there's no Ash  Anyone see that episode?

After that, i was traumatized

I stopped in Johto, when Pikachu wins to a Dragonite... come on...

No, Vashou and Buson in the Raikou special were still Team Rocket, just not the Jessie/James combination you normally see. The difference is that Vashou/Buson are largely competent (they also apparently dubbed Vashou into a woman, which is entirely loathesome). If I remember right, they're supposedly elite Rocket agents who were sent after Raikou, and only just so happened across a bunch of meddling kids. They would've gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for those meddling kids.

In any case, I think the "real" spelling is Bashou or something, but like L and R, B and V in Japan are interchangeable, and "Vashou" is the spelling I use in Pokémon SS. If you look up their names, though, they're actually named after famous Japanese poets. All Rocket members in Japanese have such names: Jessie/Musashi (whose mother, an elite Rocket agent working for Giovanni's predecessor and who chased Mew through the Andes, was named Miyamoto) was named after the famous samurai Miyamoto Musashi, and James/Kojiro is named after his legendary opponent. I think Cassie was originally named Yamato, and I can't remember Butch's Japanese name offhand. Just as a completely random tangent.

And yes, The Rat beating a Dragonite was uproariously stupid. But then again, so is Ash.

Yes, I saw them before. For a few weeks a few years ago, Cartoon Network showed a bunch of all new episodes. They were just a bunch of misfit rejects that never made it into the real seasons.

Oh please, of course Pikachu can beat a Dragonite. At this point it's probably level 1000. And yet it keeps getting beaten by n00b Trainers like Paul. And yes, Ash's incredible stupidity does get old fast.

Anyone find it sad that we're dependant on this poorly done anime to provide a 22 minute commercial for our future pokemon tcg players?

I think the problem is they need to take that next step and they just havent done it yet, they need to evolve the show after all of these years. Take the next step and put some variety and aging into the characters.

The games are actually playable, though. They're a great entrance to the card game. The anime on the other hand, is a joke. I think that many of the older players here have simply outgrown it. Remember, it's a an obvious 22 minute commercial with repetitive plots aimed at young tweens. There's nothing you can really do to mature the show because we aren't in the target demographic any more.

No, I meant that we still have the video games. There was supposed to be a 'but' before ridiculous.
