First off I want to give a big shout out to Pete, Dave, and everyone at POP for this amazing weekend and tournament. Without them we wouldn’t have had this. And a shout out to all the judges for without them also we would have not been able to have the Nationals we came to all love. For them to tell us who won game one in top cut. How many prizes who ever has left just made the tournament even better. And I can’t begin to express how grateful I am. These people sacrificed it all for us to have a fun tournament. I know some of them would have loved to play in the professor cup but dedicated there self for nationals and I just want to say thank you!

The tournament as a whole was simply amazing. The location and venue was one of the best I think we have had. You had everything in walking distance. Whether it be food, hotel, or anything else one could need. And all of it was well within walking distance. The hall was big and had enough room for everyone and some. The vendors there we very nice and respectful. I know in the past people had bad experiences and such with some vendors. Even I had one but when I went to sell my cards to them there were very upfront and helpful and it was very impressive.

As far as the tournament being 3 days, from what I over herd, talked to people about, and experienced. 3 days is and should be the way every year. In the past I know it has token as long as 11 or later into the night for the swiss rounds. Now with 3 days for the main event we were done by 9. And I think next year if nationals is ran the same way it will be even sooner than 9. This year was a testing curve for multiple day tournaments and I think it was a great success. I hope regionals and states get changed. So much props for the 3 day events.

When I was in the professor cup one thing happened that made me think. And this is the only real change I would want for the game. We all know Pokémon is a kid’s game. Well round 3 in the cup I sat down to play my opponent looked over and seen a friend and my round one opponent. He was playing with a mat with Pokémon and some anima characters. But there was scribbled out tape on it that I hadn’t noticed round one. So I asked what’s with the tape? He replied that the girl on his mat had too much cleavage and it needed to be covered. With this being a kid’s game that is totally understandable. But why should that be only limited to a play mat? Shouldn’t it be for the players and their parents? I’ve gone to tournaments and judged tournaments were there have been kids and their parents that have come to me complaining more about a parent that they were wearing a too much revealing outfit. And it made me think. If a kid has to cover up the littlest bit of “cleavage” shouldn’t a parent or child that is almost showing it all be asked to where something less revealing? After all this is a kid’s game and most kids are way too young to see things like this. So I just want the thought of if you had a little boy to go to a tournament would you want him to walk around and see this? Or if you had a little girl would you want her to see it or possible want to wear something so revealing? This is just a thought and a thing that is of some concern from past and present experiences.

Pokémon to me is more than just a game. I’ve met some of my greatest friends and have learned so much from this game. The experience is amazing every tournament. I hope the game keeps growing and there are many more years to come! Thanks for everything and to everyone that makes this possible day in and day out.

Why so judgmental? Cleavage is a woman's (or in some instances, a man's) right.

Imo the message is why have a double standard like this. Why is it ok for a female, whether it be player or parent, be allowed to wear clothing that doesnt leave much to the imagination, and a playmat with an anime character version of a similar thing be offensive? I agree that this is a game that is marketed to kids and things like clevage should be covered up. But the thing is if it to be enforced on one person, it should most definiately be enforced on everyone.

Women have been fighting for equality for years: equal vote, equal pay, and equal respect. Why try to halt progress now?

Anime Playmats have equal rights too !!!
I mean there are some motives where I see why they wouldnt be allowed but just cause a character has a bigger cleavage?
Do you know the name / series? Would something like Yoko from TTGL be too much?

i totaly agree.

and its not that were trying to knock down just girls. if a guy has something on that he shouldnt then the same should go for him! im not trying to single out girls. there are some guys out there that this could be for too. so please dont think im trying to single out just ladys.

No, no and NO
No cover up, no rules about how much "cleavage" is acceptable.
Come on, it belongs to women shown or not shown.
And yes I am female myself and I have kids.
My kids know I have brests and know in some shirts you can see a cleavage.
So what?

Sorry to say but parents who complain about to revealing outfits have a problem themselves, most times kids don't even see it or look at it and accept it.
And kids who really complain about it, are teached that way by paranoid parents.

so your saying that you would accept your son sitting across from a girl showing almost everything. or daughter walking around and some random guy has some shorts that show the world everything. im not trying to say it should be banned from the world. just pokemon tournaments. if a lady wants to show the world what she has outside of the tournament then by all means go ahead. but for a game designed for kids around the age of 10 i dont think it should be allowed.

Yes I would accept it, because it belongs to life.
For me the only shorts who show everything are NO shorts, which is not happening.
Halfcut bra's revealing a part of brests, nice, enjoy looking at it or don't look at it.

It's nothing dirty, it's natural, it belongs to peoples bodies.

For s game designed for kids, there are FAR more players between the ages of 16~22.

First of all, it's the shell we arrived in, why do we have to cover it up or feel embarrassed about it?
Second. Kids don't think that way. Do you really think it would matter to a 10 year old if some1 walked around naked, male or female, other than they would laugh and think it was hilarious?
For some reason, being naked, has been made into something dangerous and gross, when it's the most natural you can be.

Naked was in this reference used as an exaggeration factor.

Pokemon has enough image issues that we can't have girls walk around looking attractive/slutty (for those of you who aren't male teenagers)? At least it helps combat the "nerds-only" and "the only tables girls should be at are in the kitchen" stereotypes.

Wow, BigZ complaining about cleavage. This is a surprise lol

I've no kids of my own, but kids need to pick up morals from somewhere. The Pokemon franchise, being family oriented, enforces morals like good sportsmanship and SOTG. I don't think it'd be a stretch to have some sort of dress code at tournaments, though I do think "cleavage" would be a tough thing to enforce. Obscene, profane, or extremely revealing clothing (the line is crossed SOMEWHERE...) shouldn't be allowed.

And even if kids don't care, parents should be at ease and shouldn't be discouraged from sending their kids to tournaments.

But what's really annoying is people using profane/obscene language. I've even heard judges use harsh language, and I don't think it's necessary... though it can't be enforced.

EDIT:

I'm sure there's a huge difference in the clothing you guys are thinking of and the stuff BigZ is. Use your imagination for situations where you won't need to :p

At what point is dress considered modest? One extreme says women must wear buttoned-up, collared shirts, and the other extreme says pasties are sufficient.

Another consideration is, "what is acceptable in art?" Few would argue that art sometimes crosses line about what is acceptable in real life. It's not hard to find R-rated, even X-rated, anime art and media. Not seeing the anime in question, I'm sure someone felt it was R-rated (or higher) and was not appropriate for ANY Pokemon event where young kids are close by.

Naked (or mostly naked) art might be appropriate in the museum, but not at Pokemon tournaments.

sportmanship has nothing to do with how you dress.
SOTG also has nothing to do with it.

Morals is something from inside and has nothing to do with outside. (or should I call it "insight")
And even the definition of moral is different from person to person.

Some would argue differently. Try dropping your trousers or removing your shirt during a World Cup match and see if you don't get an unsportsmanlike yellow/red card.

While some morals are more personal, others are more universal. Modesty in dress (while in public) is fairly universal in "civilized" societies.

IDK, I have no problems with anyone doing whatever they like as long as they carry proper hygiene (people who smell, don't shower, wear the same shirt every single day, etc). As long as it isn't hardcore disgusting or anything along that matter, it should be acceptable. I am sure you can tell if a person wants to show off their area to attract men/women or they just are wearing whatever they like/are comfortable with.
