Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Post-Release SSBB Discussion [SPOILERS]

Oh please.
None of you know anything.
I'll ignore the fact many of you are probably not excellent smash players and have only witnessed a very narrow paradigm of the people who have played the game. More importantly is that the game has only been out a couple of months and none of the characters have truly been broken in. It's far too early to predict anything.
I'm sorry, but I'm also finding that mildly offensive. It's the simple fact that you said most of us are probably not excellent smash players and that we don't know anything that serves as evidence that you're not ignoring those facts like you say you are. You could have made some sort of point afterward which could possibly have given you a reason for establishing that fact, but you didn't. You just made the statement, and then said it's too early to know anything, which has already been said before. And you don't need to establish that we are stupid to also say it is too early to know anything.

Before you ask, as I am anticipating this, I am pretty decent at Melee. There are definitely people out there that are vastly superior to me playing Melee, but I have found them hard to come by. I have a very positive win percentage over the mainstream and above Fox and Falco players. In Brawl, I'm not there yet, but it's coming along. With time we all will be able to have some nice decent competitive matches.

I tell you this now, I am certain I could go after and beat the so called pros of Melee if I wanted to.

not Brawl because it will take me a while to get up to par with everyone, about a year to surpass alot of people. I am slow what can I say?

But I suggest Kyforgre to back up what you said because you act as if your a big shot in brawl or melee or something.

Another way to test out chars and determine the tier, do 100 man melee.

That is not a good determining factor. I can beat 100-man BRAWL with probably anybody. I have finished the top row so far. Marth was vastly superior, because for the most part all of his moves other than Dancing Blade were 1H-KO. That doesn't make him superior. That just means that he has higher knockback. Some characters mostly rely on 1 move to win, others don't.

I tell you the whole Tier thing is for losers. That why Pokemon is a bad game. Pit is just broken. I myself was a good Melee player and could beat anyone at it but the pros of the game. Brawl is one of those game I can beat anyone at and with my time playing the game, every character can be "Top Tier" when play correctly. People just need to play with character they can enjoy, not just to be competitive. Play a tournament with with Low Tier and see how fun it is. Not spamming Pit like I see on Wi-Fi all the time. TA4Q!!! Remember that.

It's not anyone can be top tier when played correctly. Anyone can be good with any character if played correctly. Remember that distinction.

dont be fooled by the pros of melee, I bet if Melee was online they be getting beat alot more then those backyard tournaments they had.

Can anyone link me to somthing that tells how to use ToonLink? I rly like using him, but he's very different form anyone I normaly use, so I'm having a hard time figureing out how to "really" use him.

Oh, I have to post this. I found a nice trick you can do in endless melee or 100 man melee that will make it near impossible to lose. Choose Kirby and stand in the middle of the top platform and spam the up-a attack where he kicks in the air above him. Just keep doing that. The alloys will jump up to you and just get kicked into the air. It works great when multiple jump at you because you kick one and it propels all of them up.

I did this and was able to KO around 275 alloys before I got beat. Pretty nifty trick.

The way you talk makes me think so low of you, a) you yourself can't back up anything without proof and b) you can't say 'I'm certain' because you're not, there is no way to do that until you face them face to face, so stop saying nonsense and making unfounded claims please.

I am certain, why? because the ones people consider pros at melee dont have crap under their belt to start with and are usually beat by randoms in most tournaments.

too bad i probably wont ever be face to face with them, but its too bad they wont be face to face with anyone outside the Pacific Time zone either. The only thing they know to do is wave dash and edge guard.

You essentially just called yourself a random, well done.

Post vids of your play, post it somewhere and have your play critiqued by an educated community. People can pick your game apart even if you don't have a "real" opponent. The fact of the matter is it's entirely irrelevant whether you say you think you can beat "pros" if you don't even try to find tournaments or make an effort to compete. They're pros for a reason, they play the game non-stop with other competitive players. It's the only way to get better.

Anybody else really want to see a match on Melee (or even Brawl for that matter) between Bullet and say... someone like Forward or Ken?

That would be hilarious.

Bullet: You have to be good with your main, before you win any tournaments. When you say all they are good at is WD and Edgeguarding, you're totally wrong.

1) WD is what made the pros in Melee. If you couldn't do it, you were quickly left behind and everyone else would beat you into the ground because they were able to move at incredible speeds and pull off combos you wish you could do.

2) In Brawl, many of the same pros from melee are showing promise with their old mains. The reason being that they knew how their characters worked. They know all the damage outputs, spikes, timing, combos, recovery tricks, everything. They have to be good at the game, before they incorporate advanced tactics. WD and edgeguarding only added to their repetoir of tricks.

I have a neat trick for 100 man brawl or endless brawl as well, but it doesn't appear to be as effective as yours. You have to wait for a fan to show up for it to work, and that is it. Stand on one of the platforms(I prefer the left one) and just throw the fan straight up. As long as you can continue hitting/throwing guys up at it, it KOs them and it flicks itself upward a little. With a consistent supply of "fuel" of alloys constantly hitting the fan, it will stay in the air, and anything that hits it dies. I got to one hundred sixty-something, 70 or more of them by way of floating fan.

The upward tilt A spamming is pretty effective for a lot of characters. I personally like Lucario for that, because his attack sweeps a pretty wide area, and you can pop off those kicks pretty rapidly. It also gets stronger when he has damage, which only helps in endless Brawl.

Nicely put.

They also don't try to forward smash someone with Marth and land short by about two inches. It's a terrifically bad habit of mine in Brawl. :frown:

Meh, that's a matter of getting used to the reduced range. I do it all the time when I try to tip my opponent on the platform above me. It just doesn't work in this version.

Thats the problems, people is labeled pros based off the flood of youtube videos they post of them beating scrubs.

If thats how pros are determined which I am certain it is, then maybe I will get my own interview with 1up or some other scrub site.
