just wanted a question answered on a very little played card, its turn one, I have in play a power plant stadium card, if I know there are no basic energy cards in my discard pile, can I still discard one energy from my hand so as to have one energy simply discarded this way?

You just discarded a basic Energy, congratulations. Wait, wait...you now have one in your discard pile! You get it right back!

Power Plant doesn't have any text preventing you from drawing the basic Energy card you just discarded.

Just remember, the "bringing energy back into the hand" part of Power Plant is not optional. So in the end you would still end up with zero basic energy cards in your discard pile. Sounds like a pointless action, if you ask me.
