Yeah. I dunno why they keep making that vancouvers theme (the olympics and now this) native people, canada offers a lot more than just that.

The thing is, they are specifically locating the Worlds in Vancouver. It's not Canada-wide or anything. Totem poles are perfect, considering the unique Pacific Northwest First Nations People. If the Worlds was located down in Seattle or something, it might have been the same thing, really.

Considering the Olympics, they more focused on Inuits though, with their symbol being an inuksuk. Even the mascot characters didn't convey it, and were perfect. Only one character had a Native design on its hat.

Meh, I suppose it's because of the olympics that I was hoping for something different, but to each their own, I definately like the art and I suppose there aren't too many summery themes for vancouver :p Other than... the dreaded FROZEN BEACH (whichisntsummer). I'd be just as dissapointed if they held it in washington and had colonial pikachu... I just want to see my pokemon in hilarious situations not historical ones from the real world.

Since the Worlds artwork displays (in my eyes) a party on Totem Poles, I would expect the promo to have a title like Totem Park.

If you asked anyone in Vancouver, this is exactly what they would have expected and wanted the artwork to be (unless they though Pokemon was going to do a poor job of it). People were annoyed with the Olympics logo because it was artwork not representative of the Pacific Northwest. This is. Once you land in the Vancouver airport, I think it will be more apparent how much Vancouver embraces the artwork of our aboriginal peoples. I don't know of any Vancouverites who dislike the artwork used. Great job to TPCi's marketing and design team.

Ghetsis as a promo with the text " Look at your opponents hand. Discard all Trainer cards(includes supporters and stadium cards). If you do, draw that many trainer cards discarded from your opponents hand.

And at the bottom of the card, it will read: "This card is not Legal for Pokémon Tournaments."

Eh, like I said, it's kind of weird to think of my pokemon as people who got slaughtered and their land stolen and basically just abused in every way. That's my only issue with it, when they try to bring pokemon in to the real world, it's weird.

That's... looking into it way too much. I see culture when I look at it, not history. It's definitely not the first thing I think about when I see a totem pole.

I'm not sure where in Canada you guys are from, but here in Ontario those are huge issues that people are still seeking and getting compensation for, I see either in the news or hear about one of my friends or friends families getting compensation, or getting their land bought or their reserve taken over at least once a week, so yeah, it's the first thing I think of. I have no problem with natives obviously but like I said, it's weird to see this art to me. Nobody has to agree with me and that's okay, it's just my opinion.

I live in Vancouver. Where Worlds is. Have you been to the Vancouver airport? Stanley Park? Seen the logo of our hockey team? There are still obviously lingering issues between the Aboriginal peoples of Canada and the Government of Canada. That has nothing to do with the 2013 Pokémon World Championships in Vancouver.

I think the fact that you're surprised that they used this artwork shows you are out of touch with the area. Ontario and British Columbia are not the same province. If Worlds was in Toronto, I'm sure they would have used something like the CN Tower or Niagara Falls. That's not Vancouver.

Nope, its just what I think of when I see imagery like that, and I do not like it. As you mention it, the pokemon in a hockey arena or at a beach or on the ocean or whatever, a landmark/ theme like a tropical beach that doesn't break the fourth wall while looking at it like this art does wouldve been better IMO. But my opinion doesn't matter, I'm sure pokemon doesn't really read these forums anyway and if they do it's not the people doing the art for worlds. And you're right, it did have nothing to do with vancouver... until they incorperated it into every picture of 2013 worlds... that kinda forces the issue.

...
That is not at all what I said. Please re-read my post and then maybe do a quick google search to look at images of the places I talked about.

Or if you're too lazy:

Most iconic part of Stanley Park: http://www.ocanadahouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/stanley-park-totems.jpg
Vancouver Aquarium: http://www.destination360.com/contents/pictures/vancouver/stanley-park-aquarium.jpg (Yes even the logo is inspired by aboriginal art)
Airport: http://0.tqn.com/d/govancouver/1/0/0/9/-/-/AirportTotem.JPG
Canucks logo: http://www.miss604.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/canucks-logo.gif

TPCi obviously did their research. You didn't. End of story.

Sooooo.... just wondering, when will we know what the promo will be? Will they tell us before worlds or will we have to wait to see what they are when we get them?
