I like your logic; how a RANDOMIZER shouldn't be RANDOM. How, when you flip a coin, it doesn't matter if you try to determine the outcome by cheating.

Lastly, as long as you flip the coin or die legally (3 complete turns in the air) you can pretend that you are skilled enough to determine the outcome... because you can't.

Even though you won't admit it, trying to rig a coin flip IS cheating. I can't access it right now, but I think thats under unsportmanship conduct - major or severe.
 
I think promo snivy is really the only promo starter really worth using.

50% Paralysis for 1 colorless t1? yes freaking please.

of course, the kicker is is that the snivy line will most likely be the least popular starter line at nat's...
 
50% chance of burn > 10 damage
25% chance of burn damage > 10 damage

Actually it isn't 25% to get any burn damage. It is 37,5% to get any damage. 50% of the time you do nothing and of the the remaining 50% your opponent has a 25% chance to flip double heads so no damage is done though he is burned. 25% of 50% is 12,5% so 50%+12,5%=62,5%. So 62,5% you do nothing, 25% of the time you get 1 round of burn damage off so 20 damage and 12,5% of the time you get 2 rounds of burn damage off so 40 damage. Your opponent can also switch making the attack less reliable.

Oh and I think the Tepig from the set that has tackle for 10 damage is the best Tepig, but the promo Tepig is worth playing to have a slightly better time against Cleffa as well. I personally run 2 standard Tepig in my Reshiboar as I am not concerned with Cleffa walling my Tepig. As long as you play either Tepig with 1 retreat I think your good to go.

10 damage is actually very significant as if you play Tepig I'm assuming your playing Magneboar or Reshiboar which means you generally run atleast 1 Reshiram so if you hit 10 damage on an opposing Reshiram you can KO that Reshiram without using a PlusPower which means you can save it for the next Reshiram/other pokemon. 10 damage can make a big difference in this format as sometimes you just don't have that 1 crucial PlusPower in your hand.

That's actually really disturbing. We don't all do it - that is cheating, and only people with a low moral code resort to it.
 
If you had only a 50% success rate, most flip cards wouldn't be that good.

That's why when you decide to use a flippy card like SSU or Reversal you run 3-4 of them. Odds say that you can hit heads 50% of the time, with Junk Arm it makes these cards especially viable. Please stop pretending you are god and can predict randomization. It is insulting to this forum and the community as a whole.

Most flip cards aren't good. I don't like using cards like Victory Medal for the reason that I don't like relying on luck. I always seem to hit tails on the crucial flips. :p Cards like SSU would be staples in every deck if they were successful, say, 80% of the time.

You're talking like everyone cheated in this game. That's pretty insulting towards everyone else. :nonono:

Anyway, how do I work on something that can't be worked on? Like has been said countless times now on this thread, the die/coin isn't an aspect of the game in itself (sorry if I'm being unclear here, English isn't my main language). It's only a tool to determine if a certain action, which has 50% probability, happens or not. If that tool doesn't have a 50% probability of giving you the action, you're either using the wrong tool, or you are using the tool wrong.

Well what I think what he was implying was how like people practice flipping coins or rolling dice in a certain way when he refers to technique and such. But yeah, I think statistically even that isn't going to influence anything beyond 50/50.

Sorry if I didn't understand right, but are you saying that practising flipping techniques isn't going to turn the chances on your side, providing you actually use those techniques? Because it will.

Oh, and even if people do practise those (I sometimes do), it doesn't mean they will use it in actual games. It's like a poker player practising magic tricks with cards. They're just cool tricks. I wouldn't cheat in a WSOP top table, and I don't think anyone else would either. I do think, on the other hand, that the guys at those tables know some very nice card tricks, as they pretty much live with the cards somewhere near all the time. :lol:

Cheating using flipping/rolling techniques doesn't differ in any way from having loaded dice. Or actually, there is one: it takes less time to buy loaded dice than it takes to learn how to roll evens on a real one.

Players who intentionally commit infractions are looking to gain an unfair advantage over other
players at the event. The Head Judge should carefully consider whether an infraction was
intentional or not before applying this penalty. If the Head Judge feels that an infraction was
unintentional, this penalty should not be applied.

Examples of Unsporting Conduct: Cheating include:
 Drawing extra cards.
 Taking cards from the discard pile and adding them to your hand or deck.
 Offering some form of compensation to an opponent for a concession.
 Altering match results after the conclusion of the match.
 Playing with marked cards.
 Lying to event staff.
 Arbitrarily adjusting the Special Conditions or damage counters put on any Pokémon in
play.
 Use of dubious game actions intended to deceive your opponent into making misplays.
 Attempting to manipulate a random result.

Tier 1: Disqualification

I have reversed my position on Promo Tepig. Actually the ability to burn (even if it's only 50%) is pretty sweet, and it's comparable to all the other Tepig in the format. I just wish the McDonalds Tepig had one less retreat cost. I would totally use that for its superior HP if it weren't for the fact that it might get stuck active as my lone basic. The other Tepig from the set (#16) has the same problem.
