PTOs who keep box toppers

I just want to make sure everyone understands how the prereleases work. From some of the things that have been posted, it sounds as if PUI sends the PTOs a kit to run a prerelease, and they have product dedicated to three areas (packs to build the decks - prizes -judges compensation). To some extent that is true for prizes and judge support, but all those boxes for distribution of the six packs to every player, or the packs for the theme deck challenge (and the theme decks for that matter) are purchased by the PTO. I don't know about you, but if I spend my money on something, I usually feel like it is my option to decide how I use it.

In my events, I use most of the box toppers as give-aways for players between rounds. I make sure the judges get one or two each. I often use some to sweeten the prizes as well. IMHO it's up to the PTO to use them how they see fit, but I would hope all our PTOs have the best interest of the game at heart and get things into the hands of players as much as possible.

Just one question, I thought if u get 1st place u do win a 'display box' not '36 packs' AKA Boxtopper included. I dunno, Vince has been givin dis 'toppers out, hopefully same will happen.

According to the PTO prize pay out sheet it says 1 display and goes on to say 36 packs. I guess that it could be considered to be either a sealed box or just 36 packs. I am sorry I don't really see the big deal over the box topper. Not getting all 36 packs would be a bigger issue, IMHO.
Steve we are sorry you got misinformed and that he was rude to you. Next time we see him how about we give him a mega wedgie...

I highly commend PTOs who choose to give away most of the box toppers to players and some to staff.

Listen, the number of draft boxes opened is based on player attendance. The PTOs DON'T have to pay for those out of their own pockets. The players are paying for those products. In fact, I'd assume the PTOs are buying the draft boxes at wholesale price, then reselling them at SRP, thereby recovering some of the cost, beyond whatever other compensation PUI is giving them. Collectively, the PLAYERS are paying for the draft boxes. But hey, I guess you could use the same argument about store owners who sell individual boosters and sell the box toppers as singles, rather than giving them away. So, I'll accept the argument that the draft boxes could possibility be kept by the PTO, even though I think they should still give them to the players (with maybe a few to the staff).

The prize boxes are another matter. I highly doubt PTOs pay for those prizes given out to the players. That's a CLEAR case when box toppers SHOULD be somehow given to the players.

That's all.

I feel very fortunate that Heidi Craig is our PTO.

Yeah, we in Florida are lucky to have Heidi, and I get to have her as a GL too. :)

Obviously. But, the boxtoppers from the other boxes are a different matter. If a PTO decides to keep them for themself, then thats their perogative, and their option
