Played against this deck at Rockford league tournament today, except instead of Reshi, they ran Entei EX. Best starter falls somewhere between Ray EX and Emolga, I've seen both of them work out. Thinking of dropping Prism energy for 4 more lightning energy so as Eel has more utility and use, and just use Reshi for his Outrage. This deck impressed me with how fast it sets up and consistantly it holds its own. Any suggestions welcome.

I think something like energy retrieval or super rod should be in this deck. Rayquaza has to discard both energy each time it attacks i believe.

I'd only discards one type, but all of them. So in this deck he would discard all the lightning energy and keep the other
 
Why bother running 4 blend? Why not just run fire instead, there's nothing that uses any of the other energy types. Then you can use super rod or retrieval.

Prism Energies should also be discarded because they count as Fire and Lightning at the same time. Also, I don't see the point of Blend Energy in this deck, as SMP88 said.


I dont think Reshiram (nor Entei) does well in the Garchomp matchup, which is the matchup to counter when playing straight Rayquaza. Shiny Rayquaza alone wont be enough neither.

Rayquaza says to discard all "basic" energy of that type, so special energy don't get discarded and don't add to the attack damage.

Dld4a, sup dave its adam. And yeah good point on blend energy, I'll toss the fires in, but m uh question then is how to change for a tech against garchomp?

And to to Rambo, i didn't see the person running this to have shiny ray so he might fit it. I do not own one however
 
Oh right. For some reason I keep forgetting that.

Against Garchomp you should have to do some heavy changes on the deck. You'll need something to start taking prizes on t2 (shiny ray or thundurus) and Raikou. Raikou+max potion is great on the Garchomp matchup.
