I was wondering if you could substitute older cards for the reprints. An example would be plus power from the base set and rainbow energy from team rocket. Thanks!

yes, you can, long as there the same or very close, like Potion healing 20 in the old times, it heals 30 now, but the old version is still useable in competitive play.

If it's the same card with the same text, you can. If the text is significantly different, you need a reference for the newer version of the card.

I think there's a list out there of what you can/can't use, but I'm not sure where anymore.
