There is nothing in the Tournament Rules that disallows the use of non-Pokemon themed playmats, however, a Head Judge can disallow use of a mat (including fan made/drawn Pokemon themed mats) if the mat contains an inappropriate or suggestive image.

Yeah you can use any playmat, but people shouldn't use this to make an excuse to use an inappropriate playmat.

I mean something like naruto playmats for example, as they are cheap alternatives, many with great art. Nothing inappropriate or anything like that. Thanks for the answer!
