Mesprit is an amazing card. Therefore, I was determined to put it in a deck that was not Palkia Lock. This is the result.

Pokemon: (15)
3x Cranidos
4x Rampardos
2x Baltoy
3x Claydol
2x Uxie
1x Mesprit

Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 38
4x Skull Fossil
3x Fossil Excavator
3x Bebe's Search
3x Roseanne's Research
3x Broken Time-Space
1x Luxury Ball
4x Rare Candy
4x Poke Drawer
4x Pokedex
4x Super Scoop Up
2x Plus Power
2x Warp Point
1x Night Maintenance

Energy: 7
7x Fighting

Strategy: The idea is get out you Rampardoses as fast as possible just like any other Rampardos deck. However, if you get off to a fast enough start and you have the resources necessary, you will hopefully be able to start power-locking too. The combination of a super-fast deck like Rampardos and the inability of the opponent to set-up can be very difficult to recover from. The more SSUs one can hit the more effective this deck is.

The only reason it works in Palkia G is that Lost Cyclone can clear the bench. You don't have this tool, so you only have 1 Mespirit. Thats hardly makes a lock deck. I suppose you could start with Skull Fossil, Rare Candy, 1 :fighting:, 1 Rampardos, 1 Mespirit, and 2 SSUs, draw the other 2 SSUs on your 1/2 turn and hit heads 4 times in a row, but I don't see that happening all that often.

I don't expect to get a continuous lock most games. All that I'm hoping to do is slow down their strategy so as to get the upper hand.

Interesting tech, never thought of it. I might want to try this deck list myself, hopefully Rampardos will see some play again with all these sp decks running about.
I run a Mespirit tech in my Speedgar deck just for that occasion, it's great.

I found the only problem with the Rampardos deck is that a weak pokemon start will hurt you badly. I teched in two Jarachi once in this deck just for that instance. It worked wonders, with being able to use Detour for a another use of Bebe or Fossil Excavator is just fantastic, and with Final Wish it gets you that final card you need for your Ramp set up. But thats just me, I really like this tech.

This is all true and Jirachi is an interesting thought. I really just tried to minimize any other starters besides Skull Fossil. If you do have the misfortune of, say, an uxie start with no double drawer or Fossil Excavator you do at least have the option of stalling your opponent with Mesprit for at least a turn to give you some time to draw into something.

i'm sorry, but you can't play trainers on your first turn.
This is true.

While Mesprit is good, I would add in a 2nd one. 1 turn of Powerlocking is not all that great. You need to Powerlock for more than one turn in order to get the upper hand (trust me, I'm a Gardevoir player.) Aside from that, I think that the 4 Pokedex could be switched to something else, but that's just my opinion.

Have you thought of adding Multi Energy to the deck and maybe a few SP cards like Lucatio Gl?
I'm thinking if there is some SP that can abuse poke-turns and Super Scoop Up, then try it out.

I like this idea. Keeping this in mind I made these changes which seem to have added some consistency:

-1 Baltoy
-1 Claydol
-4 Pokedex

+1 Uxie
+1 Uxie Lv X
+1 Meprit
+1 Roseanne's
+1 Plus Power
+1 Fighting Energy

I'm not really sure what matchups Lucario would help with. What kind of SPs were you thinking of?
