Ahoy! I went to the Rancho Cucamonga City Championships today and, since I'm bored, sick, and have nothing better to do, have decided to give a mini-report, even though I didn't do particularly well... Anyway, on to the report!
First, I arrive a little late, but to my surprise, everyone's waiting outside 'cause the store doesn't open until 11! Well, I stand outside the shop, and soon the store is opened and we all get settled inside. Today I decided to run one of my Ludicargo decks, practically the only type of deck I've played for the past four months.

Round 1 VS PJ (Ludicargo)
This game was interesting. I started with a lone Lotad and my opponent with a Plusle. By turn 3, he had out a Pidgeot, Magcargo, and Ludicolo, and I had pulled out Ludicolo, Magcargo, and a few benched. We both played cautiously because of the amount of damage Circular Steps would do. I Rock'd him forcing him to using up his final Rare Candy and evolving to a Lombre. Eventually, my Ludicolo was killed as well as a Jirachi I sacrificed, and time was called and we were tied on prizes. I then got 4/4 Heads with Water Punch to KO his Ludicolo. Great match, although I think he probably should have won.
1-0

Round 2 VS Jeff (Dragonair Delta?)
This game was short. We spent more time discussing whether I'm allowed to cut a deck into several pieces than actual playing :/. He starts with Dratini Delta and I open with Lotad. He goes first, attaches, and does 20. I draw, and my only choice was to play Steven's for 1 card, and I got nothing. I attached energy to Lotad and Surprised a Metal Energy. Next turn, Dragonair, Energy, Heads, Game. I would have liked to see more of the deck but oh well.
1-1

Round 3 VS Sharif (Powdacham)
We started and I quickly get out Ludicargo, as well as Vulpix. He KOs both Ludicolo and Magcargo and then I send up Ninetales. He can't really do anything to Ninetales so I just take one prize after another. I guess I locked a lock down deck.
2-1

Round 4 VS Jacob (SMP)
I start with Plusle and he with Beldum and Pidgey. I get out Ludicargo turn 2, but was then stuck with a sleeping Jirachi. He had a benched Metang (Delta) which then evolved to Metagross (Delta), which made me uneasy about using Ludi. He then got out a Scizor EX and then KOed my Magcargo and then my Ludicolo. From there it's all downhill and he took prizes one by one.
2-2

I came in 8th and I'm pretty satisfied. I had fun, gained experience, and met new people so all went well. It's also always fun to watch my opponents ask everyone who I am once the postings are up :). I think it's time I retire from Ludicargo though and maybe toy with a new deck for the new year. For those who will be there, I'll see you at the Fontana CC!
