Random Deck Idea: Flareon and Weavile

Flareon [Plasma] just needs :)colorless::colorless:) to hit for 20 points of damage plus 10 more per Pokémon in your discard pile. Weavile [Plasma] needs :)dark::colorless:) to use Vilify, which does 30 points of damage for each Pokémon you discard from your hand. I've heard of decks trying to exploit either, but not together.

As both are Team Plasma Pokémon, mutual support can be tapped. Colress Machine and Plasma Energy can accelerate both. Team Plasma Ball can fetch both. Level Ball can grab everything (lower Stages and Stage 1 forms) but Flareon [Plasma]. Ultra Ball can of course snag anything while helping to pitch Pokémon into the discard. Deoxys EX can be used to up the damage for either.

This is pure Theorymon, and here because I don't have a deck list. I just wonder if this would help because as small as Eevee and Sneasel are (for this format), they aren't as easy to donk as Exeggcute. Sustaining Weavile is a huge problem but... we shouldn't need to in such a deck. The deck should just need to get off one or two solid shots with Vilify, and then shift gears to Flareon [Plasma], hopefully hitting hard enough to score OHKOs against even Pokémon-EX.

So... anyone tried this yet? Thoughts on the matter? Names for the deck? In the last case, I am thinking "Smoke Before Fire" or "Funeral Pyre".

I could see it working fast if you also used single copies of several of the better Eeveelutions (like Leafeon, Glaceon, Umbreon) so you could fill your hand with Eevee's Signs of Evolution for Weavile to discard.

I'm thinking of building that deck on PTCGO. I almost have the cards for it. I don't know how good it can be, but if Weavile/Exeggcute can be good, I don't see why this can't.

Definitely an option to consider (trying to be cautious since I am running on pure Theorymon here): I wouldn't rely heavily on Signs of Evolution since if you are using it more than once or twice in a game, you're probably losing, but that opening turn it seems a solid play. Worst case scenario, your opponent uses N on his or her turn. Most Evolutions don't strike me as useful enough to run a lot of; Leafeon [Plasma] would be the chief exception.

My friend actually plays this deck competitively. He uses Weavile as the main attacker, then follows up late game with some nasty Flareon KOs. I believe he also runs Leafeon PF to counter Keldeo and 2-3 Audinos to counter GothGor/Lasers. It's a pretty mean deck just because it's fast and can discard Exeggcutes T1 with Ultra Ball/Juniper.

I had hoped to avoid using Exeggcute by branching out, but then again I also wanted to use Flareon as the main attacker, with Weavile just being used to set-up for Flareon. All that being said, thank you for sharing; when I have the chance to test I'll make sure to prepare one build following your suggestions, and try one where I avoid the bad eggs.

I've only seen Pooka demonstrate it, but I didn't care for the build. You can get up to three Pokémon into the discard with it (Ditto=>Yamask=>Cofagrigus) a pop, though at the cost of a Prize (unless comboed with Life Dew, even harder to do).

Note that "not carrying for the one build I saw demonstrated" doesn't mean I am ruling it out, though it seems a bit excessive for someone already using Weavile. Two "full power" shots with Vilify (6 Pokémon discarded for 180 damage) means 12 Pokémon in the discard... so if your opponent (or other discard sources like Ultra Ball and Professor Juniper) can get four more in, you can then hit OHKO range even for Pokémon-EX with Vengeance.

Now, if you are not using Weavile... yeah, every little bit helps and is important!

Audino sounds good for any version of a Vengeance deck.

If you get really, really, really lucky, sure. =P

Granted, I have a feeling you'll get the same result if you use four Ditto before going Ditto=>Sneasel=>Weavile: can your opponent really leave an Active, powered Weavile ready shoot for a probable OHKO next turn? No? Then they will probably KO it and hope you can't ready your next attacker.

...

If yes then never mind.
