Hey all!! The last time I played was back in 2006, and I've finally come back to the game!! I've been trying to build decks and here's one that I hope to get some help with!!

Strategy: Use Rayquaza as your heavy hitter. Using Eel's ability power up a Rayquaza on the bench while using Emboar's ability mixed with the trainers in the deck to attach fire energys to an active Rayquaza. When active Rayquaza has too much damage just retreat/switch/or super scoop up to bring out powered up Rayquaza from bench. Repeat.

Please Read Possible Changes Before Commenting!

Play either Eelektrik or Emboar, both are not needed in the same deck.

You have alot more space for tech options as well as the possibility to run Max Potion with a Eelektrik based build, however with a Emboar build, you sacrifice a little speed but you can hit for alot more damage and OHKO any EX. It all comes down to personally preference, but i haven't had a chance to test with a Ray EX / Emboar deck so i won't be of much help in that area, but considering how it seems to funtion alot like the Reshiram / Emboar deck, you'll want to add another attacker, one that doesn't discard energy, as you can't go all game with Rayquaza you'll burn through more energy than you can recover with Energy Retrieval. Mewtwo EX (like you suggested) would be a good addition. (for both the Eelektrik and Emboar build)

If you decide to go the Emboar route(which is quite powerful from my limited testing), you're going to want some secondary attackers that benefit from energy acceleration, like MewtwoEX. You'll also want more ways to grab energy. 3 Retrieval is solid, but 2 super rod is a must. I also like 2 Cilan. I wouldn't put 4 catcher in, 3 should be fine. 1 or 2 Reshiram would also be nice, giving up just 1 prize and has really nice damage, and can hit Sigilyph. It can really set you back with the discard, though, so use it carefully. You'll want to go up to 3-1-3 of Emboar, also.

I like the emboar build, because it's not limited by how many bench sitters you have, and the one bench sitter that matters is a 150 HP beast that can do all the acceleration himself, with less limitations. I'd probably put in Bianca over Cheren in the emboar build, too, because of how often you throw down several cards in your hand in a single turn, I rarely draw less than 3 off bianca, and often draw 4-5.

I've been testing a lot of different energy numbers, but the one that works for me is 4 L, 11 R. Enough to consistently accelerate, and almost never be unable to hit with Ray when you really need it.

Thanks y'all! That's helped a bunch! I've gotten rid of the Eelectrik line, only put 1 Mewtwo ex, added 2 Reshirams, and made sure to have two Super rods and it works great so far!!

Hi. I'm that kid at league who borrowed your Darkrai. btw thanks for that. Anyway onto the list. Are you going to update this thread with your changes? Or just leave it how it is? Just wondering about that. I'm not sure how your list is going but I've played a little with my version of it. Off the top of my head, I think I run 10 Draw Supporters and 2 Random Receivers and 2 Cilan. 10 is a little low in draw supporters (excluding Random Receivers) but I think it's great to have room for that. There are really no search engines built into Pokemon unlike older formats, so it is important to have as much draw as deck space permits so you can get what you need when you need it. If you have 3 Reshiram still, I think that may be a bit overkill. Rayquaza EX is your main attacker and Reshiram is a bonus as well as a good Sigilyph counter. Maybe cutting one in favor of some another consistency card would be good. I don't know exactly what your current version of the deck looks like but it seems pretty good from what I saw at league. Here is my current list for Rayquaza/Emboar. I am not saying it's better but there are some ideas to play with. Good luck! :)

3 Rayquaza EX (DR 123)
3 Tepig (BWP BW07)
3 Emboar (ND 100)
1 Reshiram EX (ND 22)/Reshiram BLW

4 Rare Candy (DE 100)
2 Pokemon Catcher (DE 111)
4 Professor Juniper (DE 98)
3 N (NV 101)
3 Bianca (EP 90)
2 Cilan (ND 86)
2 Random Receiver (DE 99)
2 Heavy Ball (ND 88)
4 Ultra Ball (DE 102)
4 Switch (BW 104)
4 Energy Retrieval (BW 92)
2 Pokemon Communication (BW 99)

2 Lightning Energy (HGSS 118)
3 Prism Energy (ND 93)
9 Fire Energy (CL 89)
