This is the version I'm carrying right now...

Pokemon (15):
4-4 Eel (paralyze)
3 Ray EX
1 Ray
1 BenchTini
2 Emolga

Trainers (31):
4 Juniper
4 N
2 Colress
4 Level Ball
4 Ultra Ball
4 Catcher
3 Switch
3 Skyarrow
2 Super Rod
1 Comp Search

Energy (12):
4 Fire
8 Electric

(2 open spots)

I'm debating whether to go with Colress, Skyla, Cheren, or Electric Energy with those last 2 spots. Bianca has never once been useful to me.

The biggest weakness that I'm finding with this version is that I'm having trouble getting energy into the discard in the first 3 turns. Maybe running 14 energy would make that easier for me.

Ive tried 5 Fire and 8 Electric, and 4 fire and 9 Electric...Both of those have done well with getting the nergy in the discard pile. I do agree that with 12, I have had trouble getting them in the discards, and is amazing how much difference that +1 energy has helped that.

I have found that Colress can be HUGE mid to late game, but Skyla has helped in many situations as well...Maybe a 1-1 Colress/Skyla?

Almost every time I've had a Skyla in my hand recently, I've been wishing it was a Random Receiver. There's really not much for Skyla to get that one of the draw Supporters wouldn't be able to get almost as easily (aside from Super Rod).

And part of the reason for so many Skyarrow is that Virbank is the bane of my existence. And a lot of players are running 3+ Virbank right now. It's good to be back in the Stadium Wars once again.

I'd suggest using 1 of the open slots for another Emolga to enhance your chances of starting with it and 1 Energy Retrieval. The R energy will always be Hammer targets. By having an ER, you know for sure you can retreive it directly from your discard pile with 100% certainty without having to draw into it via a Supporter which will not guarantee you can pull it when needed.

I'd suggest the following for your consideration:
-1 Level Ball. If you go with the 3rd Emolga, the 4th LB is not required, IMHO.
-1 Skyarrow Bridge. These are primarily intended for Ray. Even if you have to pay 1 energy cost, IMHO, it's not a big deal... I will just Dynamotor it right back onto a benched Poké.
+2 L energy. 8 in quite insufficient, IMHO.

Chompy - I think there's alot of + vibes here for RayEels and I strongly suspect it will be well represented at Regionals.

Good luck all at the tournament!

If I'm putting in another recovery card, it'll be another Super Rod. Eel material is too valuable to lose, much more valuable (and easier to lose) than a Fire Energy. Plus, by the time I need it, my deck will be thin enough that a Juniper will all but guarantee the energy gets back into my hand.

8 is sufficient in the mid-to-late game. It's actually more than sufficient, given the way I usually play the deck. The problem with 8 is the early game.

As far as Skyarrow, that's all about countering Virbank. I do NOT want Virbank to be the Stadium that gets locked into play. Virbank takes my Eels from 2HKO by Landy to OHKO. Or it takes my Rays from 2HKO for 2 prizes to 2HKO for 3 prizes (given a Claw and a Catcher for an Eel).

I'll test with 2 Emolga, 4 Level Ball. If I find that's not working, I'll test again with 3/3. But I really don't like dropping down consistency Trainers for consistency Attacks.

Hi! :)

Figured I'd ask in here instead of making a new thread. What is a good replacement for Pokémon Catchers in a RayEels deck? I will get them eventually, but need a suitable tech for now. Thanks!

Nothing. Not really. Your best bet is to add more draw power and pray your opponent leaves EXs Active more often than not.

If you can't borrow 4, then I'd suggest you consider the following:

+1 L energy
+1 Super Rod (total 2)
+2 Max Potion
