rememberance day '08 - 90 years since the great war

well today was rememberance day. i dont really know where this thread is going, i just thought that it should be mentioned that 90 years ago today ... the great war had ended.

millions on soldiers lost their lives, and i feel that it is only right to commend those men (from both sides) for standing up and fighting for what they believe in.

please, some input.
 
Armistice day jajaja yeah.

I've always had an interest in World War One ("The Great War") - especially what triggered it.
 
^"World War 1" It's really WWII but we don't really think of the war between France and England as a world war (even though it spanned 3 continents). Anyways, Armorece (sp?) day ftw. Rememeber our Veterans. :)
 
The reason they're called WWI and WWII is basically because the issues that spawned WWI were never resolved, and WWII was started because those issues were never resolved.

I'm assuming that you're talking about France/England during the 1850s, right? From what I remember, that did have a definite conclusion, and about 50 years of relative peace throughout Europe...
 
Yeah the 7 years war, which I would classify as the first true world war. And in all honesty, WW"II" is really just WW"I" with a small break and slight boarder hoping. lol.
