Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Report Your LM Pre-Release Attendence here!

I will check back, in time, on the 21 cities still pending, and update the numbers as needed.

Congratulations on the cities from Irvine to Anderson, in countries from Canada to Mexico, and everyhere in between on a great showing for Pokemon and the Legend Maker Pre-release. All of the numbers are amazing!

The actual numbers reported on the POP site may vary from the numbers posted below, due to who reported the number, or uniqueness in tournament format. As there was 1 notable variation in reporting, I have maintained (rather than deleted) the previously reported numbers. Team Cook and the Woodlands were among only a small number of locations to hold a concurrent Theme Deck Challenge
with the universally held 'sealed pack' pre-release tournament. While some locations had around 5 people play in a TDC, The Woodlands had an enormously noteworthy 39 players opt for this portion of their tournament. While POP didn't (yet) recognize the extraordinary accomplishment, the number is noted in Team Cook's numbers, maintained and reported below:

Bernie....Is that also known as the upper south?? LOL....GJ on the numbers in KY. Glad to see a growing group up there. On a side note, beware of Tennessee @ UK tonight!!

We had 44 at Collector's Cache in Overland Park, KS.

Good to see all of the younger players, about 15 each in 10- and 11-14.

M45,

Texas numbers are almost Northern California like.

The San Jose City Championship had over 100 players show up to play, not watch, but the space and fire marshall safety restrictions limited the number of players who could play. Without the restrictions, official second largest 2006 City Championship in the world would have been #1 - San Jose, CA!

Then on a Sunday not a Saturday, for $20 not free, for 8 packs not 10 packs, with the Superbowl played DURING the pre-release, San Jose/Santa Clara pulls an amazing 84 paid players!

No one else pulled numbers like this on Superbowl Sunday.

Its the lower mid-west if like me, you are originally from Louisiana.... but don't tell anybody in KY that-- they really do consider it the south

The less said about UK basketball this year, the better ( in other words, UT is up by 7 at the moment)

Thanks for the kind words!

I'd suggest changing your thread title to "Report Your Pre Release Attendence here!" I almost missed this thread, but I see you found my numbers already. (Kennewick WA, 27, Phoenix Games, Lynnwood WA 44.)

Dear Team Cook,

I will update your numbers. I took the 75 from your post of 02/05/06 9:57am #20, in the EX, Legend Maker / The Woodlands & Katy, Texas thread you created, where you wrote, "75 in the main event".

I apologize for not knowing that meant you had 114 players in your main event.

When I said Texas numbers are Northern California like, it was because we had 84 in the main event, and, like you, additional play after the main event. I didn't add numbers from post pre-release main event tournaments, like booster drafts to any attendance numbers in the list above, If so, our number would have been 117 (84 main, 32 booster), but that isn't the number I posted.

I will change your number above from 75 to 114 for attendance of paid players in the LM Pre-release main, not booster added, tournament. Your actual total numbers must have been around 160 or more, based on the info you've given and using our numbers to figure a proportional increase from pre-release to pre-release plus booster numbers. WOW!

Great numbers, congratulations! Clearly, I had it backwards, and Northern California numbers are Texas like.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Not exactly sure where all this is coming from.... kinda sounds like... sarcasm???

Perhaps you misunderstood me? Or maybe I am misunderstanding you. It doesn't matter, I'll set the record straight.

I do NOT hold booster drafts or any other side events at any of my prereleases. NONE!! Except for the pre-event GBA tourney to keep the kids busy during our 2 hour registration period.

What I meant by "75 in the main prerelease" is that we had 75 play in the "sealed packs" portion of the event (all three age groups combined). We had almost 40 (39 to be exact) in our Theme Deck Challenge. Last time I checked, those players were a part of the prerelease. Therefore 75+39=114.

Perhaps I missed the PTO bulletin from PUI that said TDC players no longer count. Would you please forward it to me?

To any and all who wonder where I got numbers initially to start this thread; I took numbers reported in the numerous individual tourney threads for the main, or sealed pack, event, as that was the number most reported in the individual threads.

Very few included theme deck or booster draft tournament numbers, although as has been correctly pointed out both are very much a part of the pre-release tournament.

Although, I knew the Santa Clara booster draft numbers, they were not included, as I was trying to use a more universally reported number. I thought this number would allow for more of an apple vs. apple report. I am leaving Santa Clara's number at 84, not 116.

Additionally, and perhaps more importantly, I thought 84 was the only appropriate number for Santa Clara as the booster draft happened after the main event and was populated by 32 players who had played in the earlier 84 person tournament. The Santa Clara number of players was 84, period.

I had not considered, in my limited (both in time and geography) experience that some events might hold two or more separate concurrent, not consecutive, types of tournament play; and that numbers from each should correctly be added when reporting. Not an apple vs. orange, more of a fuji apple vs. granny smith apple number reporting situation.

I would like it if you would provide your LM pre-release, sealed pack, main event numbers; or if like Team Cook and The Woodlands, you ran concurrent (played at the same time, not the same people playing in multiple events) tournaments, then provide that number. In the future (it is my first time doing this), I will know to ask for main event number/theme deck number/pre-release number and a total number; 42 main/20 theme/16 booster, 78 total as an example. My goal is to record the number of individual players (attendance).

Without sarcasm, my congratulations to Team Cook for the Woodlands turnout stands; and you are welcome for the congrats. I appreciate you setting me straight, it helps this report.

Without further editorial, I will post whatever number here that each of you provide.

If any of you know someone who ran one of last weekend's tourneys, ask them to send their numbers; and thanks to everyone for helping out.
