Last format Weaville was never played because of the threat of being power sprayed and sniped. However these threats have largely dimished. He has a fighting weakness which is to be expected and has a psychic resistance which isn't very useful at the moment. Free retreat is always awesome on a card. His attack is a little underpowered, but is great for sniping babies, damaged bench pokemon and has some nice synergy with Kingdra Prime. However, the main reason he's likely to be used is for his :ppowr: which allows you to view your opponents hand and discard a card. With great timing, or a bit of luck it can be enough to swing games.

8/10

I freakin' love Weavile. It's power is as disruptive as heck, free retreat is amazing in this format, and Feint Attack is underrated.

Imma say it's an 8/10, low HP and weak to Donphan is bad. The base damage of 30 for the attack hurts too, 50 would be so much better.

this is a part of my favorite combo... judge +weavile+ambipom+weavile =opponent top draw for the rest of the game .. untilll they get juniper. But either way this card as said above is extremly disruptive and has no retreat cost :0 the only reasons I wouldn't give this a ten is because of the low HP and the slight edge that donphan has on it with earthquake KO

overall around 8/10

Don't use Judge in this combo, it goes against what you're trying to do...

^That.

Weavile is awesome. In a format without Uxies or Claydols, there are a lot of 6 card hands you can ruin by discarding the right card.

Seeker, Claw Snag, discard whatever basic your opponent picked up lets you bench them, fast.

Plus, it assassinates Cleffa, on the bench OR through sweet sleeping face.

A completely unbiased 9/10.

Yesterday's Rewind CotD was Weavile from UD; original post:

Today's CotD is Weavile from UD, another kinda lame card. Statwise, 80 HP is eh for a Stage 1, x2 Weakness to sucks, 20 Resistance to is helpful, and no Retreat Cost is cheap. Claw Snag...well, it's better than no Poke-Power at all, being able to look at your opponent's hand and discard a card of your choice once when Weavile evolves is at least something as opposed to nothing. Feint Attack is a bit pricey at :dark::colorless: for 30 to one of your opponent's Pokemon with the "Swift" effect.

Modified - 2/10 (Can be sprayed, bad attack, and the Poke-Power itself isn't exactly that gamebreaking most of the time, especially as the match progresses)
Limited - 7.5/10 (Ok enough here, the Poke-Power could actually ruin your opponent if he's trying to save something, and the attack is adequate)
Unlimited - 1/10 (Pointless Poke-Power, bad attacks and HP, etc etc)
Well to be fair, at the time no one had came up with the combos with Slowking and other things it could combo with, not to mention it being pretty difficult to work with back then. Now that we're in HGSS-On, it's much easier to breath without the threat of being Spray'd and such. Still, I see it as gimmicky at best, it can work but it's not easy.

Modified - 6/10 (Better than before)

Rest of the ratings stand.
