I just recently started getting back into the game, I used to play quite a bit back in the days of neo, but besides playing unlimited with my friends, I would like to try modified.
I thought up this deck because I wouldn't have to get many supporters, I have like 2 atm, and the X is coming out in a tin, so the deck should be easy to make, so far I have the energies from the old sets, and 1 rare candy, a good start.
pokemon 14
3-2-3-1 Rhyperior
2-2 claydol
1 azelf LA
trainers 26
rare candy 4
bebe's search 4
night maintenence 4
premier ball 4
felicity's 4
quick ball 4
super scoop up 2
energy 20
fighting 20
will sub out 4 fighting for 4 call if I can get my hands on some
From what I've seen of other people's modified decks, the supporters can drain the pokemon from them pretty quickly, leaving nothing but delicious energy
I guess the strategy here is to get a rhyperior X up and going as soon as possible and attack for 0, and with all those kingdra countering rogue decks that will be running around, I think it'll fare okay, also, it can take a hit from Kingdra and KO back.
warp point kills this though, how do I deal with that?
also, getting X prized would hurt, how do I fix that?
really, it operates on the principle of a stronger, slower kricketune, I think.
pros:
2HKO'd by kingdra, OHKOs back
insane damage potential for 0
a little luck based, but shouldn't be once supporters have done their work
170 hp
it's rhyperior
combats growing electric metagame
cons:
bad starts
losing a rhyperior X and not being able to get another one out because I've discarded my rhyperiors, which is why I added quick ball to get everything into my hand asap, and NM to combo with it, I'm still wary of that though, since I can't test it.
not being able to use bebe's because I don't have a pokemon in my hand
slow, a stage 2 lvl X is essentially a stage 3
possibly discards valuable cards
having a candied X devolve after you've discarded all of your rhydon with hard crush hurts
warp point hurts, rhyperior has an awful retreat, and I only have one X
In closing...
could someone give me a hand with this, I really don't know much of how newer decks work.
also, where is the best place to get newer trainers and supporters?
