RPS Question

I have heard different answers to this question, so I'm just trying to get a final answer on this before nationals

can you use RPS cards in place of actually playing the game?
example: choose a card and put it face down, ask your opponent what they choose and flip the card over?
and could you do that even if your opponent doesnt want you to use cards?

Cards are an acceptable alternative to playing RPS, and in fact I saw a lot of them at Nationals. You can use them even if your opponent doesn't, and you do not need their permission to use them.
