this tragedy proves what we all know and should not ever forget: the pokemon community is amazing. reading the messages added to the newspaper article from pokemon players all over the PNW makes this clear. we are a family, and though i am a marginal member at best (i don't play! it's too complicated!), i feel honored to be part of it. the PNW pokemon world is a very nice place to be.

RIP cason, and may his family and friends find solace wherever they turn.

Such a tragic way to go.
A loss for sure to everyone, not just in the Pokémon community.

Deepest sympathies.

gah. this is horrible.

my condolences.

from what ive been reading, he was clearly a good person and a good player.

I am really sad this has happened... may not have known him- but he was sorta like most of us by the sounds of it... it's upsetting to hear someone this great has been lost.

Just For Everyone's Information:

Cason's Mother Jan Called Me This Afternoon. She Doesn't Have An Account Here, So She Asked To Thank Everyone On Behalf Of The Family. The Family Is Grateful To See That So Many People Have Supported Them In Their Time Of Loss.

my deepest condolences...RIP Cason
i never met him or heard of him till now.
being such a great player i am saddened that i will NEVER be able to face him...
...
RIP once again

A parents WORST nightmare- having to bury a child :(

The pictures I've seen of Cason tell me we have lost a GREAT kid who embraced Pokemon
and sotg.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his parents. I never met Cason, but i wish
i had the privelidge before now. GOD bless you Cason and rest in peace.

Only the good die young :(

Man......I just wore by Team OR-EE-GON hat a few days ago, too.....

There's really nothing I can say that others here have not said already. Cason was one of the few people I knew who could play a fantastic, skilled game of Pokemon (both the TCG and GBA games) while still being completely cool and friendly to anyone who talked to him. He wouldn't even insult people in a joking manner, he was just nice to everyone.

While I really never did anything with him outside of the Pokemon tourneys, I (and all of us in Team Salem, actually) knew him and respected both his attitude and his abilities. It was literally impossible to not like the guy.

My prayers are with Matt and Jan. May God help you through this time.

Sincerely,
Marvin

PS. Cason.dec FTW.

I just returned from the Memorial Service. There were between 800 and 1,000 people there. I'll post a few details as soon as I collect my thoughts. What I will say right now though is that Pokemon was an important part of Cason's life and his father told me he really appreciates all the prayers and positive wishes from the Community.

Wow, I shocked that I didn't know him, that's so sad to hear that he died. Even if i didn't know him I wish i could of, he sounds like a great person. Sorry for the loss of Carson. he's in a better place now where he can play pokemon all he wants as he watches over his closes friends and family. Rest Peacefully.

It is tragic indeed that someone so young has to go so early. From what I've read he was an amazing influence on the community and my thoughts and condolences go to Cason's family.

R.I.P.

Unfortunately I never got to meet or play him. From what everyone else has said I have missed out on getting to know a very special person. He will be missed by those who knew him and those who wished they had. R.I.P. Cason

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Cason's family and friends.... he sounds like he was quite a wonderful young man. So sad his life should end just as it was beginning... :(
