Okay so the nights before i decide to just switch out a few cards from my states deck (dialga - toolbox) for more anti-meta cards and decide to play that. i playtest a tiny bit and i try going to sleep on friday night early so i can get up early but i can't sleep until 2 30.

i wake up at like 4 45 and my brother, mom, and I get out the door at around 5 50 to meet up with H0nkey, his mom, Robert, Jeffy, and lil' jeffy and train leaves at 6 30. after the first train ride and we are in trenton, we see a drunk black guy in a bathrobe get kicked out for trying to start a fight with a white guy. no racism intended but it was hilarious. we get on the second train and we get there and meet up with brian, darell, erik, and gino, who all somehow got there earlier. we do decklists and registration then the tourny begins.

Round 1 vs. ........... Dylan Bryan - Palkia g
WOW. the person i usually play late tourny is the person i come to PA to play:nonono:
well some crazy ____ happened here. i sat down at the WRONG number 9 and when i get up to move i leave behind a card by mistake and when i get to the new table i draw the BEST hand and setup i could get like a turn one deafen, two benched sp, a power spray, and a uxie to refresh my hand. they announce a missing card in black sleeves so i check my deck and i only have 59 cards! i get my missing card and judge decides i have to re-shuffle, only to draw unown g, 5 energy, and a cyrus's. its a decent length game and i still get down to 2 or 3 prize cards after the bad start and slow recovery.
0-1
uuugh i doubt ill make it by now witht that disadvantage

Round 2 vs. Andrew M. - RANDOM grass deck
yeah...........
1-1

Round 3 vs. ???????? - ???????
i don't remember his name and never saw his deck because i t1'd him with toxicroak
2-1

Round 4 vs ??????? - Gengar machamp
I got out a dialga like T2 and i deafened and whenever i needed to knock out a gengar i used poison or uxie and he never got to use fainting spell.
3-1

Round 5 vs Michael Diaz - manectric - cresselia - palkia
we both set up, i deafen lock him for a bit with my Galactics HQ in play so when he evolves into manectric he takes 20 to give me the one-shot with toxicroak. he never gets another stadium out so that gives me the upper-edge. i let him take back a few plays, then the hard part begins. he warp points, brings up palkia and passes. i start my deafen - poison lock on it so he cant move. he levels up but i spray his only chance to restructure. i keep up the lock and poison while he uses cress. x to full moon dance damage and eventually knocks out my bronzong. so i am up on prizes with one left and he has a cress x with 20 on it active. i know as long as i can block one of the FMD's i can K.O. the cress for my last prize. he says "remove two" and looks at me while holding the die seeing if i would spray. i didn't hear him say remove TWO i just thought he was going to use one then the other so i can stop the second one. he moves off two so i said wait i was going to power spray the second one and he calls over the judge, who says since he didn't say "FMD move one" and then the same thing again that i didn't have a chance to spray so it was ruled in my favor. sorry mike
4-1

Round 5 vs. Robert chirco - Gengar machamp.
i start with azelf and he gets turn one gengar but falls 10 short of the donk. my turn i rosy's and set up while i let the azelf get k.o.'ed and i start killing the gengars by poison and the machamp by toxicroak lake boundary. after a while things get tense even though i cant remember why and it ends up getting down close. i end up actually knocking out a gengar but he flips tails on the fainting spell. i dont really remember much but i won
5-1

WOOOOO!!! im happy because i went from 0-1 to 5-1
so the top cut looks like this
1st dylan B - palkia

okay so im playing my friends aaron and this is his second tourny this year.

T8 vs. Aaron Z. - kingdra

Game one
i just get the t2 deafen and deafen lock him and power lock him and he scoops

Game two
he gets a decent start with azelf and uxie and horsea, but i have 2 sprays and i deafen lock and then just one shot everything else

sorry we had to play so early and i got lucky against you
6-1

top is now like this
1st Dylan B.
2nd Dave shoyket
3rd H0nkey a.
4th Sam G. me

wow its the same top four as in swiss and in top 8. no upsets.

Round 8 vs Dylan B.

Game one
i get NOTHING and he just destroys me.

game two
i set up WAY faster and tank him until its 1-4 prizes me. but by then he has more defense and i have no way to kill him other then sniping his zong twice with honchkrow but he scoops that up. so after turbs of being rushed he just keeps k.o.ing everything and wins.

okay so i got fourth, not terrible.

JUDGES (for the round one mix up)

nice job on Top 4 Sam, kinda weird that the Top cut also showed the final standings. By funny train incident are you talking about that racist cop.

JUDGES (for the round one mix up)

OK, so I'm the judge getting the slops here, I suppose.

I didn't leave a card behind at a table. You did.
I could have looked at it as a "legal deck list/illegal deck" issue, however I knew no harm was intended, and since no cards had been flipped over yet, the game hadn't officially started yet.
I purposely instructed you to reshuffle and re-set up without knowing your set up because I didn't want knowledge of how good or bad your set up was to influence my decision.

You had set up with an illegal deck. The missing card influenced how many basics you drew in your opening hand. Granted, only by a few percent, but it had an influence none-the-less.

Once you had a legal deck, I had you re-set up with your now legal deck. No penalty was issued. Not even a Caution, since it was before the game officially started.

You can still give me slops if you want, but I just want you to be aware of the big picture that went into how it was handled. Sorry that your opening went from good to bad.

Sam,

POP makes a good point here. Perhaps a better slop would be to yourself for leaving a card behind and having to re-shuffle your hand. Not having the card in your deck for that game or the entire tournament could have been far worse for you in the long run.

You did a great job, and we are really proud of you!
