Hello, i haven't really posted much on forums, but, my history of what decks i've played goes from playing Gyarados to Sabledonk to Luxchomp to Blaziken to Kingdra Prime w/ Kingdra LA to Gyarados w/ Sabledonk, and to ReshiBoar all in the same year, except the Gyarados which i have been playing since worlds 2009. So after the mid-season rotation i was very confused not knowing how to play decks with more than 6 energy. However, recently i have adopted a deck idea from some friends who barely started playing the game starting from Battle Roads (Spring) this year. At first it seemed like a really dumb idea and seemed no where near as consistent enough to beat decks like Yanmega decks and TyRam. But after seeing him win a local tournament, going undefeated and donking a few times, i realized this deck had potential. My deck list isn't identical as his but i've only changed a few things that were needed in order to make this deck much faster at taking out Samurott as early as possible.
Pokemon: 20
4 Alomomola
3 Samurott
2 Dewott
3 Oshawott
2 Shaymin
3 Electrode
3 Voltorb
T/S/S: 22
1 Flower Shop Lady
1 Engineer's Adjustments
1 Seeker
3 Pokemon Collector
2 PlusPower
3 Pokemon Communication
2 Switch
3 Rare Candy
4 Professor Oak's New Theory
2 Twins
Enegy: 18
3 Double Colorless
15 Water
Strategy: The way you should begin is with an Alomomola active from the start of the match; it doesn't really matter if you are going first or not since it doesn't evolve and having 100 HP is really good for a basic. (It is also very nice if you start with a Voltorb on your bench.) You should probably use PONT or Pokemon Collector to find your basics and attach energy even though you probably wont be attacking this turn. With the collector you should have probably gotten another Alomomola and an Oshawott or two. With the refreshment of your hand you should have probably found 1 of the 3 Electrode in this deck or at least a Pokemon Communication. You should evolve that Voltorb as early as possible since it is popular bait for Yanmegas. Then this is where the starts (for your opponent of course). Use Energymite (your oppenent takes a prize card, big whoop) to get out those water energies on any of the Alomomolas, (make sure to always spread any of the DCEs you find using Energymite making any of the Alomomolas or Oashawotts (soon to be Samurotts) for a back-up any time you need it. It gets even better, after your opponent gets a prize, that means your are down in prizes right away. Is this bad? No way! That means you can us Twins if you haven't use a supporter this turn, or you could use it next turn too. Using Twins, sometimes you really don't have to use it right away since you can start attacking fairly quickly, you could pull out a Rare Candy and a Samurott and have a turn 3 Samurott, or turn 2 if you start off with an Oshawott turn 1. You can always go a long way using Alomomola to get easy prizes or wounding any Pokemon. But if you think you need to or want to, you can put down a Shaymin and transfer as many Water Energies to a single Samurott, i've one hit a Steelix with 3 Special Steel Energies and a Defender on it, and even had enough to one hit the Steelix if it had the fourth Special SteelEnergy on it. That's how fast this deck is with Samurott able to go full force on turn 3, and even turn 2 if you start with the right stuff. The last thing you should know is that you should go crazy with the Energymites because there really is no limit to how strong your Samurott is, but please know what you are doing before Energymiting 3 times in one turn, usually 1 is enough if you use it early in the match. Just to show, I used Energymite 3 times in one game, 2 on the same turn late-game making him have one more prize card, against a deck that is really a pain in the neck to go against with this deck (PrimeTime). I was desperately needing water energies being down by 2 prizes, so i used Energymite 2 times in one turn and got the water energy I needed and caught up to him and eventually won the match, against a Magnezone!
After testing with it last minute before a local tournament (well not so local for us), a 30 minute drive from where me and a group of buddies live, i was thinking maybe this deck was actually pretty good. The week before i started playing this deck was the week my friends and i went to a tournament, and my friend used this deck and went undefeated. So this time we were in a totally different environment where there were different type of people and different decks. At this tournament I went against one pure Yanmega deck, two PrimeTimes, a Steelix Samurott Serperior deck, MewGar and Stage Ones (Megazord). I went undefeated all the way until top 2, where i went against a PrimeTime. I was both confident and worried because I knew that i can bring out a Samurott Tank faster than anyone can say "Lost Burn." However, he got his Yanmega out before i could say "Energymite" and staring to Snipe my Voltorbs. But now that i look back at that match, that game could have been mine if i would have had 2 Voltorbs out at a time, at least Energymiting once. He took his last prize when i still had 4. Well-played dude, well-played.
Next week, we went to the same place my friend won using this deck 2 weeks before. Hear me out when I say this, this place was pure TyRam, PrimeTime, and Yanmega Magnezone Kingdra Decks; so i knew that i was going to have a terrible time going against all of the Magnezones lurking around, but i knew it was in the bag since this deck was so fast. I got to top 2 and i was against my friend who played a ZPS with Lanturn and a small Vileplume line for tainer locks. I was worried since I knew this deck was good after testing against it and seeing him go Top 4 and Top 2 every tournament ever since he came up with the idea. But he started out with a lone Oddish and I went first with an Alomomola active and a Voltorb on my bench. I attached a Water energy on the Alomomola and passed. It was his turn and i was hoping he didnt have a Pokemon Collector in his hand, he attaches a Lightning Energy on Oddish and passes. At this point i knew f i got a Pokemon Communication it was game. I drew and there it was, an Electrode. I evolved and used Energymite, able to get 4 Water Energy and that was game. Sorry about that, but I was terrified of that deck.
Unfortunately, I am on vacation right now in Mexico and won't be back until after Worlds. But I am hoping that one of my friends will take it to Grinders, living in Garden Grove which is 1 hour away from San Diego , because I have a really good feeling that it will do extremely well and get that invite into the main event; knowing for a fact, that this deck wrecks any PrimeTime decks, any Yanmega decks, any Reshiram Decks, stage-ones (Megazord) and even any Magnezone decks from experience. :thumb:
