Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Seeking advice from experienced PokeParents about Nationals

The food court at the convention center is top notch. All of the resturants are quite good (Noble Roman's pizza is delicious) and is much better than the food in the TCG Hall. Less expensive too, and every year the convention center usually has coupons of some sort for Origins to be printed out online. I think Mrs. Duluard had them last year (Heatherdu)

Bring water with you if you can. Dehydration can be very fickle as you're making your way through the convention halls, and I can find nothing worse than leaving a match without something to drink. Especially for your kids.

There is a Pokemon "Artist Center" (I forget the exact name) in the corner, near where the juniors play. Tables are spread out with coloring sheets, post cards, crayons and markers. An adult mans the tables. Kids of all ages sit down and create to their heart's content. Then the attendant hangs the artwork on the wall. This is a popular spot with the Junior players and would be a great place for your kids to go if they are waiting on you between rounds.

Some kids bring their DS and play, others bring a toy. A backpack is great for each child. They can carry their deck in there along with a water bottle, a snack and some other items they may want/need.

Nationals is tons of fun. I'm sure you'll have a great time.

I am going for my first time this year, not bringing any kids this time, but this is some great in site for what I have to look forward to.

I will be hanging around the Masters area, hiding from - I mean working for BlizZ and Spookees.

I try to dress my kid in the same shirt as I am. Usually yellow. Not to be cute. If he is missing I can show them what he is wearing. Might not do this this time since we got new Pokemon shirts for the kids thanks to the Cooks at Regionals.

This is coming in much later but...
My kids LOVED LOVED LOVED Looney Labs. This was right up the steps from where Pokemon was. It has a variety of different kid freindly games, you need tokens to play some games which you can buy at the registration area, & they go until wee hours of the night. I had to literally pick my kids up & carry them to the car at like 3 am so we could go to our hotel. All 3 kids, aging 15, 13, 10 enjoyed this place throughout the entire weekend when they werent playing pokemon.
So Looney Labs might be something you want to check into early on when you arrive at the Convention Center. They will have MANY options at the Con to do other things so you can get your monies worth out of the trip! We do anyways!

Hope this helps!
