Shuppet (ROS) and Wash Water Energy/Wonder Energy

If I use Shuppet's Bleh attack in an attempt to discard a Wash Water Energy attached to one of my opponent's Water Pokémon or a Wonder Energy attached to one of my opponent's Fairy Pokémon, is the effect of the attack blocked by the Energy? Or am I targeting the Special Energy card and not the Pokémon, and the attack works successfully?
