1. If your opening hand consists of no basic Pokemon but both pieces of a Legend, you aren't required to play the Legend, right?

2. A curiosity rather than an intention, using opaque sleeves, is there any reason you can't use a World Championship print basic energy?

1. Not only are you not required to play them, you can't.
They are not Basic cards.

2. Because it's not a legal card. That's the only reason, but they have not made exceptions for energy cards or commons from those decks.
