Ahh... I forgot about the in-game shuffle. For that she simply holds deck sideways (landscape) and grabs cards from middle and puts them in front (top of deck), then grab middle and put cards in back (bottom of deck) repeat repeat repeat. I can't remember anyone having a prob with her doing this... except her... and in those cases she has judge or opponent shuffle for her (but that was last year at 5... big girl at 6 can now shuffle mostly on own).

Notebook... oh yeah.,,, my daughter has a list of "ooops" and reminders that she keeps and reviews each week. Always ends with "do your best and have fun" though

This year her main focus needs to be a better understanding of EVERYTHING the opponent is doing and why they are doing it (as well as being on the lookout for "junior mistakes"). One common Junior mistake we see is they confuse "flip damage attacks" that have "+ number of heads" versus those that are "x times number of heads". Most Juniors I see treat 20x attacks as 20+ attacks (for example: flip 3 coins, for each heads this attack does 20 damage.... many kids if they get all tails will still do 20dmg since they are confusing the "x" with a "+". In fact, with young Juniors I see this more often than not. The other most common Junior mistake I see is evolving and leveling up errors. Many young Juniors will evolve the same turn they play lower level card or will Level-up a Lv.X on the bench instead of when it is active. These aren't things they do to "Cheat" they are, imho, just simply "mistakes". I'm sure there are others but I think its important to coach my daughter not to make make those mistakes and to also be on the lookout for them.

I just LOVE uxie. I would try to tech at least 1 in just to see if it helps speed things up. Maybe take out a Rowan or two and add some Uxies in. Also, max the SSU.

He's only had a chance to play once this week. We're too busy with homework, soccer, and cub scouts. I don't remember being this busy when I was seven. Anyway, his deck seems to be playing much better now. He played against me and my Beedrill deck and did quite well. You should have seen his face when he played SSU, picked up his Torterra LvX with 150 dmg on it (Darn I need a substitute for Plus Power), pulled up his benched Torterra, and leveled it up. He was so excited. And he still had cards to evolve his Grotle to Torterra on the bench and attach an energy and he Cosmic Powered the rest. He just pounded my Bees.

Thanks for all the help!
Jeff

I find the most effective pile shuffle to be:

153
624

and so on. Then you shuffle together the bottom row, shuffle it individually. Then repeat with top row, then shuffle them together.

Sorry if that sounds complicated. maybe I can upload a youtube video of me doing it...
