Yes, that's so reasonable considering I'm a full time college student. Yes, that's so reasonable expecting a full time college student to not only keep up good grades, but have a job AND have time for a GAME. Yes, that's so reasonable considering I live no where near an area that does this.
I'm not the only one who things that the GA marathon is a joke and that it shouldn't be allowed. :/
Some of us actually DO have lives out side pokemon...
If you took the time to look at the demographics, you'd realize that you're being really ridiculous.
The GA marathon is the work of MULTIPLE PTOs setting up CCs in a state that had virtually no OP a few years ago. The marathon didn't just start out big, it grew big through hard work. PTOs from any other place can do the same thing that the GA PTOs do- but they simply don't. It would be very easy to draw huge numbers for chain CCs in a place like New England. Why don't you stop being so lazy and become a TO and try hosting some tournaments?
I hate that your constant fallback argument is that you're in college. I'm a senior this year, double majoring, and have time to play and travel. In fact, the GA marathon is the only real time I can even play in any CCs. The marathon is SIX hours away from us, and it's our only real opportunity to play in CCs. I can't afford to drive 6-9 hours multiple times to only go to 1-2 cities. What I can afford is one quick spurt during Christmas vacation of multiple cities in a close vicinity.
There are people from Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama all coming to these events. Many people are driving more to and around the marathon than you will drive to go to EVERY combined city you attend. If the GA marathon still makes most of its participants drive 20 hours or so (12-15 just to get there, and the events are still usually about an hour apart from each other) to attend 5 CCs, that average is probably still very under what you experience. The marathon doesn't even save time/money for most people. A lot of people from FL or TN could just drive an hour to CCs, but they choose to make the journey for the sake of competition and to see friends who likely won't be seen for another six months.
Why don't you stop giving this tired, pathetic, whiny college excuse? You always say you don't have time to respond to people "because you're so busy with classes", but spend hours trolling certain threads and making absurd amounts of posts in short spans of time. All you've shown in this thread is that you're ignorant of the GA Marathon's demographics, the geography and OP of the south, and can't compare logically the cost/time/effort put into the marathon. If you were a bit brighter, you might have realized the majority of attendees spend more time/gas/travel to attend than not, and will likely have traveled much more than you have. Why don't you complain when you ACTUALLY spend more time/money than others getting to a tournament?
Let's get onto the topic
It's a joke in the respects that those of us who aren't lucky enough to live in such areas are basically screwed over.
How far do you have to travel for States? For regionals?
For regionals where I live, it's a solid 6 hour drive. For states, it's 6 to FL, and 7 to GA. What about you? It's a joke that I don't live in New England with a legitimate train and bus system and densely populated cities and states where tournaments are physically closer.
Steve Silvestro was able to go to school full time, work, have a girlfriend, and win worlds. What's your excuse, buddy?
I'll be waiting for your cowardly response of having to do some non-existent homework and being unable to respond.

Maybe some of us have time management skills and can adequately handle a hobby while working and going to school. Don't mess with ma boi John kthx.
