Hey guys it's Brent;been a while since I've posted a report but anyways I decide to play AMU at both events. LA was the first weekend and MS the second,following the MS event was Modified list MS team tournmant the very next day,no ratings on those games but one of the most fun events I've ever played.
3/14/09-LA
Round 1 vs. Matt Prescott w/ Machamp
I win by 4.

R2 vs. James Simmerman w/Galactic/Claydol line
He is way ahead early,but I stick it out and come back to win in Brentlike fashion.

R3 vs. Kathy Schell w/Abomazong
This game was all me with a very fast start to a pretty poor start for her.

R4 vs. Mike Schell (Camera Man on here) w/ Kingdra
Mike showed why you should take no opponent lightly. The other players assumed an easy win where I assume anyone is a threat in a tournament. I have a great deal of experience with Kingdra and I know this match-up both ways up and down and win fairly easy;but no let-up.

R5 vs. Steve Silvestro w/Galactic's/Manectric
This game is fairly close IMO with a slight edge for him. He wins but we both are in top so whatever.

Top 4 vs Trevor w/Dusknoir/Gengar
I won both games;however they were fairly close and he lasted the entire hour. For his first year in Masters not too shabby.

Finals vs. Steve S.
Game 1-We go 40 minutes in and he wins;I was behind the whole time and just couldn't bring myself to fold.
Game 2-He has a lone Uxie start,I go first,he draw passes,and I t2 him.
Game 3-19 minutes or so left,it's 3-3 when time is called and we go back and forth between his power sprays and me trying to set-up a winner. He runs out of spray and I win if I draw an energy;but i don't lol,I pass back and he KO's to win on time 3-2. We finish the game for fun and I win.
So we play a Game 4 for fun and Steve wins,so it's all good.

I am way behind again and stick it out to come back and win.

He gets out Honchrow with NRG gain and attacks,I Rose for pachi and switch to pachi and do 80 KO,and discard another energy gain in his hand,next turn I get all the pixies out and that makes him need more energy to attack and he nevers gets the Dialga G Lv X out,I win fairly easily.

I get ahead early but forget he plays Dusknoir,he makes good dark palm choices in combination with well-timed KO's to come from behind and win. Great game.

R6 vs. guy with Regigigas
He has full control of the game and takes 5 of his prizes and 4 of mine with gigas power,he drags up my lone azelf with palkiaand ko's it over and over and over. I never got all 3 pixies up to do the 200 with mesprit but I stuck around the whole time and saw the light at the end of the tunnel when he discards palkia x for lack of switch once i choose it for the active spot,he ko's for 100. it's 2-1 now and I bring up the azelf (finally),level up and do 70 to the benched uxie since he has 7 energy in play. 1-1 and he can't switch or sacrifice or do 100 since he used the big attack the turn before,he does 60 and flips tails,i draw and do 70 again to another uxie ftw as time expires. (whew that was close)

So I'm in top 8. Not sure of the exact order but Mike was first at 7-0,Matt L.,myself,Kevin White,another guy from TN,Alex L,Devon from LA.
So top 8 sees Mike,Matt,and Kevin advancing,awaiting the 4th spot is the winner of myself and Alex Lacour.
Top 8 vs. Alex w/ttar
Game 1- I have control,until he drops duskull and candies to dark palm dusknoir...I did not see that coming,he comes alllllllllll the way back and wins 40 minutes in,great just like last weekend...
Game 2-I have a fast start and get 4 prizes ahead so it's a win for sure,I take the 6th prize as time is called on my turn.
Game 3-SUDDEN DEATH. How exciting is this a sudden death game in top 8,he has darkrai vs my mesprit,we go back and forth a couple turns,he needs darkrai x on the thrid turn against my azelf x and for me to get two tails to lose. he does NOT have it,he felicity's for 4 and rips it,seriously? i roll (please don't do me this) and get 1-1 so i'm still asleep but at least i'm still in the game,i draw,i use trade off and get a second poke-drawer,i pull out mesprit x and switch,i switch to mesprit,level up,drop a 2nd energy and swing for 200 to win.

Finals vs. Kevin White w/ Machmp/azelf (LA)/uxie (LA)
Game 1-It's close,close to the point that if he gets one heads on hurricane punch with machamp X it puts him in great position to go ahead and win,he throw 0/4. I can't believe it and assume full control of the game at that point.
Game 2-This game is all Kevin as time expires he takes the last KO.
Game 3-Just when i though t8 was scary I have to play Sudden Death against Kevin in the finals,I have to go first by the roll and open with Azelf (LA) vs. Machop (SF),i go energy and 30 and no retreat for him,i probably win next turn if he doesn't candy to champ and drop an energy to win. i can honestly say,i played close games all day but this honestly the first time i was actually scared that I was done as he starts his turn. he draws and takes a minute to think so i know he doesn't have everything,turns out he doesn't have machamp or a fighting energy but he has baltoy,rare candy,and claydol. which he drops baltoy and candy to claydol and drops 2 to draw ith cosmic power. he does not get another rare candy,a machamp,or a fighting,he puts a bubble coat,a cyclone energy,and a plus power and attacks for 20. Azelf only does 20 now and knowing Kevin I'm afraid if he has another turn I might not see a turn 3,so I rose for pachi and energy,drop them both,retreat to pachi and do 40 thanks to his bubble coat ftw. he had to drop the bubble coat to avoid the azelf ko so i can't blame him,he did the best he could i'm sure.

MS State Teams (no ratings) 3/22/09
Before this I had already decided to have Mike Philepello play as my teammate with us both playing Kingdra. We both ran a Manectric line,I played 2 uxie X and he played 1. Our lists were 5 or 6 cards different but ran in the same manner. Mike and I play as none other then Team Rocket since but since we had our LA friends playing as Team Rocket as well we are MS TR and they are LA TR so we know who is who lol.
R1-We 6-0 ftw.

R2 vs. Team Liles
They go first with Sableye and dark energy to KO mike's only poke! 0_o I go and rose for mike to get him back in the game,the next guy goes,rare candy to claydol,cosmic power,2 poke drawers,rare candy to infernape (PT) heads for 4 energy,attaches for turn,plays a rose. and does ko to me and 20 to my bench. I counted his opening move and he literally playe 20 cards on turn one! (were was he yesterday is what i'm wondering?) mike goes and starts setting up,the lady goes and KO's mike again lol,i go,the guy goes and ko's me again. we are down 6-2 now and mike gets up an uxie to attack the infernape for 8o since he used close combat,the lady goes,i go and get up kingdra and follow up mikes move to take down the infernape and 20 to claydol on the bench,mike goes and gets kingdra and follows my lead to ko the now active cyndaquil and 20 to claydol. we decide to focus everything at this guy and take out his claydol with the benched damage and come back to win! solid teamwork on the moves and trusting that the other teammate would drop a rose/bebe at the right time literally won a game that looked way past gone.

R4 vs Victor Pruett w/gigas and Anna S w/pixies
victor mesprit psychic binds us the whole game and ko's it with sacrifice only to TSD and get it back out,we never used a power and still took 5 prizes,came up just short.props to them on a well played game,they premier ball and play supporters for each other with great timing,good teamwork on their part.

R5 vs. Magvire Moffia Alan Schell and Chris Gibbs w/Kindgra's
So they won the last team event beating Katie and I in mirror followed by Mike and Anna in the finals;today a new chapter was wrote.
Mike and I both get up the Manectric's and we go back and forth with them,since they can only hit manectric for the 20 to the bench Mike and I win,thus their first loss EVER in teams,this was only the second event but still lol.
T4 vs. Magvire Moffia again
Game 1-Close but we win.
Game 2-all them.
Game 3-SUDDEN DEATH. In teams we all play with one prize and your team must take both to win. Player 1 of both teams may not use trainers,so I have Mike play first,follwed by chris,then me and i rare candy to kingdra and ko alan's only poke lol,alan goes,mike goes and rare candy to kingdra to ko chris ftw. DOES IT!
Finals vs. LA Team Rocket (Matt L w/Galactic's and April O w/Machamp
so we are playing our friends in the finals and they have a really cool strategy,matt drops crobat g to hit baltoy and then honchkrow g to KO baltoy. when you uxie (if you have it) he power sprays lol,then since you have no draw to set-up,april uses machamp to take out all of your basics,if by some chance you have unown g,she just does 40 to the other player,and matt cleans up;sick strategy and they go after just one player;in our games if just happened to be ME LOL.
Game 1-all them with strat mentioned above,6-1 and i scoop to a loss on the next turn so i don't jeapardize mike into losing on time.
Game 2-close,but they had control the whole time,matt ko's my baltoy 3 times,and they combo their attacks to fight through my unown g,i never get claydol and all of my uxies are power strayed,mike kept me in the game with supporters and i still managed to hang in there and put damage on the board for him to clean up with kingdra but way too fast and way too much working against us and especially me to win. they win 6-4.

So I finished 2nd at LA State and 1st in MS State,Mike and I finished 2nd in Teams only to our friends who had the most sick combo I've seen in a while. I have big props for Rick and Mike for well run events along with Kevin White for 1st in TN and finishing 2nd in MS;he is surely going to do just fine in Masters even though he just recently moved into the division. The biggest props go to Steve Silvestro for winning LA States for the third time;in Masters each time. Thanks to everyone who made the last 2 weeks fun and competitive,I wish you all well at future events. See you at Regionals.
