As you all know, Worlds was a huge sucess. I think it had to mostly happen because of this simple statement that was in the Welcome Packet for players. Those who went to the PTO meeting at Origins know that this was coming and we all looked forward to it. This is going to be found in the Floor Rules when it is updated so look out for that.
Wow that is alot isn't it? Almost everyone showed true spirit of the game at Worlds and we greatly appriciate it. I promise to uphold it and now I feel like a whole new professor and trainer. I have made new goals for myself and I hope to become one of the greatest trainers there will ever be. I don't mean by greatest as in titles or competition but what I mean is... well you'll see what I mean. I hope this message means something to all of you.Spirit of the Game
The Pokemon TCG is a game of skill. The concepts, characters and atmosphere of friendly competition are why so many love to play the game. Being part of a well-orchestrated game is exciting for everyone involved. It is with this attitude that we want to emphasize the true spirit of the Pokemon TCG.
While there are prizes to win and titles to earn, the Spirit of the Game requires good sportsmanship and adherence to the rules from all players and volunteers.
This spirit should guide the conduct of players as well as the tournament judges as they interpret the game rules.
The following behaviors comprise the true Spirit of the Game:
While the objective of a Pokemon TCG is to determine the skill level of each player, the ultimate goal is to uphold the Spirit of the Games. By honoring this spirit, we can make Pokemon Organized Play more fun and rewarding for everyone!
- Have Fun!
- Play Fair - A true Pokemon player would rather lose a good game of Pokemon, than win by cheating.
- Observe the rules - No good Pokemon player would ever deliberatly break the rules. However, if he or she were to inadvertently do so, and be aware of it, they would be the first to divulge the penalty to their opponent and the judge.
- Respect players, event staff and spectators - A good Pokemon player never attempts to distract an opponent, or otherwise prevent him or her from making the best possible play.
- Display good sportsmanship at all times
- Help others learn and enjoy the game
