Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Stormfront Dusknoir revealed!

Ummm MD Mewtwo has flavor text AND three attacks

I hope the theme deck Dusknoir is in this set as well, as it is much better then this one.

What I said wasn't absolute. Also recall that TR's Mewtwo was the first pokemon to have 3 attacks, so it may have been an homage. Regardless, you have to agree that flavor text may indeed be the reason we aren't getting three 'things' (attacks/bodies/powers)

I prefer this over the theme deck one because I like playing kamakazi style  I'm playing this with a DP Dusknoir, the Lv. X, Bronzong MD, Unown !, Spiritomb, and a Sableye SF start for Cities

gahhh so cool looking!!
i have kind of mixed feelings aboot it though, especially the energy cost for night spin and the retreat.

With the power, do you take the 2 damage counters regardless or only if you have to discard cards? It is worded somewhat odd.

I'm not seeing this played in place of Claydol...Stage 2 is infinitely more harder to play than a Stage 1 (barring Rare Candy) and he damages himself, leaving him open to spread damage + TM TS2 if they Candy into him. Not to mention Dusknoir's Power is just Bill with a damaging side effect and limitation; Claydol will usually net you a greater amount of cards. However, in a Dusknoir-centered deck (especially with that evil Lv X), at least you don't need to run Claydol then.

Now, next season though, when Claydol could be making a departure since they rotate about 4 sets per season (lol, uber-far-off format guessing), if there is no better substitute, he could see play for that purpose.

no flavor text is amazing, now pokemon can have 3 attacks again!!!!!!111

Strangly enough the only card in IFDS that had flavor text was the set Shaymin. I wonder why it was so special?

On-topic: This Dusknoir looks very fun. A mini Claydoll power and and an attack that makes Mr.Mine almost usless. And the first attack will be fun to KO one last Pokemon for game.

I can see damage even being a claydol donker. Use your power a few times, then select the oppo's 'dol and OHKO it. Bye bye draw for the oppo. This just gives more options to the 'Noir player.

Am I the only one who thinks this the reason for this is very obvious? Shaymin had its first appareance in the TCG, so they still had a Pokedex entry from the games not yet printed on a card. For the Stormfront card Dusknoir, its Pokedex info has already been written on the DP card, and they probably didn't feel like writing up something new, because Dusknoir as a character is already sufficiently introduced to all Pokemon fans.

I still like the DP1 dusknoir better. and i don't think he'll be replacing claydol. Claydol is a S1 and easier to set up.

Another AMAZING piece of art by Matsuhiro Arita!!! I fell in love with his art ever since I saw the Rocket set's Zubat, and I wish he did more Holos. FYI, he did both Kingdra and Luxray (Luxray's art is also PHENEOMENAL) , and has done several other amazing pieces.

He's pretty much one of the few artists in the Pokemon TCG I get excited about:

FlareonMD.jpg

Just check out the backgrounds on each of these cards. Zubat's is nightmarish and dreamlike, Luxray's is similarly twisted and dreamlike (what a bizarre angle!) And Flareon looks innocent and confused by the fact that he's melted all the snow around in him into a puddle. Now if he'd just do Empoleon...

Anyways, about the card, it seems pretty strong, but its power won't displace Claydol. There are better, cheaper ways to snipe (Starmie, Stormfront Rapidash?) A better solution to those of you tired of Claydol would be to hire about 3 artists to make alternate-art. :D

Although, then again, the two dusknoirs and the Lv. X seem poised to be a fierce contender later on in the format.

I've caculated it, and it looks like Shaymin(both), Giritina(both), and Shaymin Lv.X are getting cut.

Looks like Dialga will make it as a NH rare.

well, if both Shaymins, both Giratinas, and Shaymin X get cut, that would only leave three cards since the math equals the total set was 108 cards in Japan. Chances are it'll either be the three Shinys (Duskull, Voltorb, and Drifloon), or the reprints of the Charizard line. TBH, I'm banking on Charizard getting cut.
