Sup Guys, Im not sure where this goes, so im posting this here.

Lets say your wearing sunglasses in a tourney, can your opponenet call over a judge to have your sunglasses removed?

Thanks :D

Raymer 04.

I'd have to say no unless for some reason they were interfering with the game.

Why should your opponent care?

If they are those highly reflective sunglasses, it's possible that the person you're playing might be able to see your hand...

I personally prefer swimming goggles, but to each his own...

Not sure but I don't think it would be technically illegal to show your opponent your hand.
I’ve skimmed through the rule book (FR/LG version) and did not see it addressed. I’ve looked in The Compendium both Original and EX and this is all I found:

Q. Is there any penalty for accidentally seeing your opponents hand?
A. As long as you both agree it was accidental, then no. (Aug 31, 2000 WotC Chat Q183)

I suppose you could interpret this to mean that there is a penalty for intentionally showing your opponent your hand, but I think the answer here is addressing weather your opponent intentionally peaked at your hand and not that you intentionally showed your hand to your opponent. So currently I’d have to say that, if your opponent whishes to give you the opportunity to see his/her hand through a reflection in the sunglasses that he/she is choosing to wear, it would be O.K. as long as you told your opponent that you could see his/her hand through the reflection as soon as you noticed.
It may however, somehow be considered to be un-sportsman like conduct, though personally I’d allow it because the only person who could be negatively affected would be the person wearing the sunglasses. His/her opponent would have an onus to make it known immediately however.

Hey TRUK, I always like when I can see my oponnents hand. I remember the 2001 west coast STS My opponent was wearing shiny sunglasses and I told him I could see his hand and he thought I was kidding. that ended up helping me win a game..... So, I would never wear sunglasses that let my op. se my hand.JMHO

Squirtle

like many I'm wondering where TRUSKid is going with this.... come on give us a clue! LOL

Well, when you wear sunglasses, you don't give off as many tells because your opponents can't see your eyes. It's incredibly hard to know what your opponent is thinking when you can't see what expression they're showing.

OMG people

this isn't poker!!!

there isn't much to tell
there aren't any bluffs in this game (or usually there aren't)
sunglasses give no advantage (or such a slight one that is doesn't make a difference) to the wearer

They're SO stylish.

only if you have Lt Surge's Secret Plan in your deck

you need big sunglasses to hide behind if you play that card!

Mmmk, Patriarch wears sunglasses. Nobody complains when Patriarch wears sunglasses. HOWEVER, when TRUK wears sunglasses, it's a crime because he isn't Patriarch :D

eh
well
Patriarch has nice, big, fancy, EXPENSIVE sunglasses

sunglasses are 1337 for not letting your opponent see what you are looking at, making him more scared to cheat. you need the 1337 anti-galre ant-reflective coating though, otherwise it is VERY easy too see into hand.

u never take those things off. i bet u wear them to sleep. but it is a crime when patriarch doesnt wear his COWBOY HAT THAT HE PROMISED TO WEAR!!!

but on the other hand i can see where TRUK is goin with this

You could wear those weird contacts that if you put a little dot on the back of a card, you can only see it and know what the card is, while it is invisible to everyone else. At least that's what they did on CSI when a lady was cheating at Poker.

I don't think you really can see people's hands with sunglasses. The only thing I don't like about people wearing sunglasses is that you don't know where they are looking, and sometimes I rely on where people are looking when it's my turn or when it's there turn to see what they are planning to do.

cowboy hat for Johnny = just as cool as his sunglasses

and I would wear sunglasses of my own
but I have to wear eyeglasses
